Barry Trotz: yay or nay?

  1. 1. Are you on the Trotz wagon?

    • Yes
    • No, but I'd make a coaching change
    • No, stick with Gallant

The more established guys have no trades.  The guys on entry levels or first contracts after entry levels cannot be traded for more established players due to cap considerations.  A like for like trade of LaF, Kakko, Miller etc. would bring a similar, somewhat underperforming player.  Drury's hands are pretty well tied in terms of a significant trade to shake things up.  This is why coaches don't last long in the NHL these days.

Normally a coach is owed a trade before he gets the axe.

Let's see what happens.

I know you're not necessarily advocating that, but "making a trade" feels like the ultimate lipstick on a pig move here. Particularly given the extremely limited options available to them. Even if they did have the wiggle room to make a significant move, this team isn't a trade away imo. It's a violent shake-up away.

Trading Gauthier isn't going to make a dent, I agree. Trading a kid or a Kreider might send a message to the room and the coach that jobs are on the line.

Break up Kreider and Zibanejad.  You almost have to do this at this point because it sets a lot of wheels in motion elsewhere in the lineup.

Why are Panarin and Zibanejad not playing together given their evident synergy on the PP?

Shouldn't the most valuable young prospect on the team get a shot with the two best players on the roster?  That would be Panarin - Zibanejad - Lafreniere with Laffy getting compensated in a big way for having to move to RW.

What does this mean, exactly?

By compensated, do you mean he’d get top-line minutes with their 2 best forwards?

Yes.  Laffy would get to play with 2 of the Rangers 3 best skaters in compensation for playing off-position at RW.

Has to be now, that third period is all the evidence you need that the coach has lost the room. We didn’t even make them work that hard

Sadly think this is the case. Spent the 3rd period watching EDM and not bothering to attack. At a complete loss why after the 2nd EDM he didn't call a  timeout. Try SOMETHING, for feck's sake.

Was at the game and heard people talking about Mess

Nah, he's too old and wouldn't move the needle on the ice.

Well, now that I think about it he definitely would have a pulse on every shift and that's more than you can say for half the top 6 these days.
