Guidelines

These Guidelines exist to advise our members of the rules and regulations for participating in our community. Veteran or rookie, it is your responsibility as a member of our community to read and adhere to these Guidelines.

These Guidelines are also subject to change. They can and will be updated as needed. Any modifications or additions to our Guidelines will be announced to ensure all members are made aware of any changes.

1. Abusive Behaviors

Abusive Behavior, as determined by the Staff, is not permitted anywhere in our community. Examples include, but are not limited to:

Flaming/Harassment
Defined as any post or message published in our community that verbally attacks another person or group. People join our community to be part of it, not to fend off personal attacks.

Trolling
Defined as any post or message published in our community that is intentionally inflammatory, insincere, or digressive with the intent of provoking emotional reactions or manipulating members’ perceptions. This behavior is not only passive aggressive, but childish, and is entirely unhelpful in building our community.

Hazing
Defined as any post or message that is unnecessarily hostile or unwelcoming that is directed at new members of the community. Remember — we were all new here once, too. Help new members feel welcome by educating them and encouraging them, not belittling them for not knowing our customs, traditions, and tendencies.

Prejudiced Remarks
Defined as any post, message, image, or content published in our community that is deemed to be racist, sexist,  or bigoted. This type of abuse, more than any other, is guaranteed to get you permanently banned from our community.

Inappropriate Language
Defined as any post or message published in our community deemed to be excessive its use of highly-descriptive language and/or profanity. Profanity is not banned in our community, but should be used in moderation.

2. Unacceptable Content

Unacceptable Content, as determined by the Staff, is not permitted anywhere in our community. Examples include, but are not limited to:

Internet SPAM
Defined as any attempt to phish, scam, or dupe members of the community.

Sexually Explicit Content
Defined as any post, message, image, or content published in our community that can be considered sexual in nature. This includes—and I quote from Google—“images or video content containing lewd or provocative poses, or close-ups of breasts, butts, or crotches.”

Gore
Defined as any post, message, image, or content published in our community that depicts excessive violence, death, dismemberment, and/or mutilation. If you can’t imagine the content being printed on the front page of a national newspaper or magazine, do not post it here.

Illegal Content
Defined to include the sharing of pirated materials and media. This includes the sharing of illegal internet live streams. Do not post these in our community.

Advertising Spamming
Defined as any attempt to lure community members outside of the site, especially as a means to generate clicks or ad revenue for other ventures. If you run a blog or related site and are an active member of our community, links to your own work, or the work of your peers is acceptable so long as those works also benefit our community.

3. Miscellaneous

Spamming
Not to be confused with Internet SPAM, Spamming is defined to include a host of unwanted behaviors including, but not limited to, acting as a general irritant, posting pointless images or messages, and being intentionally disruptive.

Ignoring Staff Warnings
If one of your topics is closed, moved, or deleted, don’t post it again. It was very likely closed, moved, or deleted for a reason.

If you are asked to do or not to do something by a Staff member, listen to them.

If you believe a Staff decision was made in error, contact any Staff member to ask for clarity. Do not throw a public temper tantrum. This will only work against you.

Editing Preexisting Content
Quoting posts is a common method of directly engaging with other members and is often used to contest specific points made in a debate. When quoting content submitted by another member, please do not edit or alter any of their original post. This includes “fixing” another members’ posts. Even if you are just joking, altering the original text of another member can misrepresent their opinions for anyone not in on the joke, or who may not have read every post in the same way you did.

Posting Unsourced Material
Wherever you “heard it,” please cite the source of your news. Sourced content makes a huge difference in helping to validate stories as well as separate them from misinformation and disinformation.

Duplicate Accounts
Members are permitted only one account. Please do not create alternate accounts, especially as a means of avoiding a ban. Members found to have circumvented a ban with a duplicate account will see both accounts permanently banned.

Ticket Sales and The Box Office
The Box Office is a section of our community designed to help members sell tickets they have to games, concerts, and events to other members of our community. In order to avoid anyone signing up for the sole purpose of selling tickets, all members must meet a 25 post minimum before they are permitted to post tickets for sale. Any attempt to post tickets for sale outside of the Box Office is strictly prohibited.

Politics, Religion, Philosophy & News
Politics, Religion, Philosophy & News is a section of our community designed to debate serious topics. Because of the heightened sensitivity surrounding these subjects, there are special rules and regulations we require of members to participate in conversations there. You can read more about this here:

4. Warning System

Violations of our Guidelines can result in Warnings which may or may not carry points. Points operate on a scale and expire after 180 days.

The more points you have, the longer you will be restricted or banned from our community.
