Trouba sing

at the same time he single handedly turned the shittsburg series around in game 5 by knocking out Crosby and turned the Canes series around by knocking Jarvis out.  Trouba is not going anywhere even with the ridiculous $8M cap hit

That team was not young, they were at the end of their window and that's why those moves were made.

The team was still young in 2014 and 2015.

As of 2015:

Brassard 26; Stepan 24; Nash 30; Zucc 27; Kreider 23; Hayes 22; Hagelin 26; McDonaugh 25; Klein 29; Miller 21; Staal 27; Girardi 30; Fast 22; Yandle 27; Moore 23.  Boyle and St. Louis were the only really old guys.

Cap mores like Stralman and Hagelin hastened the demise (the letter having a big impact on the Rangers as a speed team).

I'm talking about when the team finally got disbanded they were not young. They made the playoffs twice after that, the second year basically handing the season to Ottawa.

It's not like they didn't have their chances.

I'm depressed now. 😉

It was evident after the 2015 Tampa loss in Game 7 that the group had seen its window essentially close. They were still a good, competitive team. But their best kick at the can was done and over. We all knew that leaving MSG that night. If they couldn’t win when they were at their best, they weren’t going to win any other way obviously. Pittsburgh massacred us the next season, and then Ottawa smashed us in half before Pittsburgh would have.

Where did this idea of Strome at 4.5 come from anyway?

Strome may be willing to take a bit less in salary and a bit more on term to stay, given he’s been a Ranger for four years and finally found his footing as an NHLer after his stays with the Islanders and Oilers. If Drury could get Strome for six years at an AAV beginning with a four (preferably at or below $4.5 million), that would be a better option for the Rangers going forward. There was still no word on Wednesday as to whether Strome needs surgery for his core muscle injury, but if the Rangers feel Strome can be more consistent when healthy, they would have their No. 2 center locked up for a long while.

Sorry if this was posted already somewhere else. He's not wrong.

On the money. I thought the play by play guys are OK, not good but not terrible. They get a lot of names wrong during play though. Ray Ferraro is terrible. Steve Levy between periods is terrible. Chelios is a bore. Emily Kaplan wasn’t good, but I give her a pass because she’s new/young/will improve with experience. There’s probably better options for her role though. Example: remember the Rangers’ Amanda Borges?

Yeah.

Where did this idea of Strome at 4.5 come from anyway? He was asking 7 a year before the deadline. It feels like a wild pipe dream to see him leaving like 15 million dollars on the table over the course of a contract.

Where is the idea that he was asking for 7 before the deadline come from?
