  1. I think we're gonna need to see Robertson get an extended look this year. Not necessarily because he's ready or good, but because he might be necessary for a little while until Mancini and Emery are able/ready to jump. As things stand, our D looks something like this going into next year. Miller-Fox Jones-Schneider ????-Trouba Trouba's gotta go for cap reasons. We're going to need at least 2 ELC-or comparable D to take over here. I expect we'll see a few guys get some good looks this year. especially on the left side. Unfortunately for us, that list is Mackey, Scanlin, Robertson, and Ben Harpur.
  2. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5760887/2024/09/16/nhl-contracts-elite-players-shesterkin-bouchard-rantanen/ The Athletic looks at the bigger picture here, and it's starting to get uncomfortable.
  3. I'm just waiting for Zach Wilson to randomly become extremely relevant on the Dolphins or something. Same as I expect that someone can "fix" Daniel Jones, but it ain't the Giants
  4. Oh, I have the perspective. I'm just bitter that I'm now paying remotely close to NYC prices
  5. It's double what it was 5 years ago. It's definitely cheaper than MSG though.
  6. Depends on the road game tbh. The schedulers figured out that they can gouge pricing over the holidays, so both Florida teams play the Rangers in Florida during the week between Christmas and NYE. $107 before fees to get into the building in Tampa, $115 in Sunrise. I paid $52 a head for seats 15 rows off the ice on the Rangers-shoot-twice end in Sunrise just a few years ago. It's a distant memory.
  7. But there's nothing you can do-a, you only wanna be with Tua?
  8. Sometime between then and now. I think report to camp is the 20th?
  9. 10 days until our first preseason game.
  10. It's arbitrary - just saying that a few years down the road this is going to be rapidly in line with what top goalies make now. I'm also more of the mind that I just want to use this one year window to win a cup, damn the rest of it, so I don't really care if he signs before the season. The only way I will start to really, really care is if we're floundering at the deadline and find ourselves needing to maximize the return, but that feels unlikely barring injuries. We've known that 25-26 was going to be something of a transitional year since Kreider signed his contract, so we may as well just embrace the uncertainty right now and manage assets the best we can. We've got decisions on Trouba, Panarin, Chytil, and Lindgren coming up in the next 18 months. Kreider and maybe even Zibanejad could be added to that group depending on how this season and next season go. I'm not terribly bothered throwing Shesterkin into that mix if it helps us take this one big swing before we really need to think about restocking the cupboards.
  11. It's important to remember that this is where he's starting. Not where he's ending. Zibanejad started at 10, landed at 8.5 Panarin was rumored to be seeking 13, landed at 11.6 Lindgren was rumored to be seeking 5, got 4.5 It's not a perfect science, but we never see a player land on their initial ask. We're going to frontload the deal, he's going to be the highest paid goalie for some amount of time, but we can and should expect around a 15% attrition on the number. He'll come in around 10.5. Which, by 2027-28, shouldn't be more than 10% of the cap.
  12. Please don't. Without you two bitching at each other, we'll have to cut the moderation staff in half.
