[RS] (#55) Rangers @ New York Islanders — the One With the Big Ass Jersey Numbers

Based on what we're seeing so far the ice is choppy and the wind is a factor.  The team that does the simple things best is going to win and so far that is the Isles.

Cycling is ridiculous in these conditions.  One pass, shot.  One pass, shot.

Shesterkin had a good look at the last 2. No excuses. Should have been pulled. Rangers overall seem to not be interested in playing defense.

The third goal was a pass that was deflected two feet outside the crease from down low to the upper corner of the net. How in the world is that on Igor?

That’s what I mean about hating these games.  Conditions are FUBAR for this one game.  But - hey - if they can sell 50G tickets to people at high prices who don’t mind watching ants skate a mile away from them… more power to NHL marketing.

Islanders aren’t good but if you watch the two teams in the defensive zone the Islanders always have someone open and the Rangers never do.  The Rangers just don’t stay with their man in the defensive zone.  It’s hard to fathom that none of them know how to play defense.

I mean. Igor’s gotta stop one of those three to be an nhl goalie. Don’t  care which. He can go back to being really good if he stops two of the three. Right now he’s maybe the worst “starter” in the league

Your right an average or below goaltender should not be expected to stop that. Shesterkin is average at best this season.

This looks like the December/January Ranger team.  They are being totally out worked and out hustled.  Announcers really suck.  Evidently the veterans think these games are owed to them

On-ice leadership is missing.  Gustafsson is probably the best leader the Rangers have right now and his roles don't allow that to show the way they should.  He was one of the backbones of the fast start and then he got demoted when Fox got back.
