Shesterkin at his peak also stops that funky ass thing off his blocker and absolutely doesn't let Kolesar score from beyond the circle.

These are bad goals. Across the board. They're inexcusable for an NHL goalie and they happen in every game, because the book's out on Shesterkin. Shoot at the glove, he can't catch a beach ball.

Then the books out on every goalie.  Nobody is taught to shoot for the 5 hole. Shesterkin is in a real bad funk and really sucks right now.  But I don't think there's any special instructions on how to beat him. It'd be the same for any goalie.

Shoot for the high corners Get the goalie to move a lot. Create traffic in front. If you beat him early,  you're probably in his head and can fire at will. This is every goalie.  Ever.

2 things can be true at the same time; team's core is baby shit soft, and Gallant 2 years running "coached" teams who lost playoff series in which they had a 2-0 lead.

I have always been suspicious that everything that came out was a concerted effort to make an excuse for the team. From management to a few players. Because Drury didn't want to make any hard decisions or be a big boy about the roster.

The proof is in the puddin'

Right, we agree that Shesterkin is a funk.  At Quick’s age he’s probably not leading you on a deep run.  So if we are going on a deep playoff run this year we need better goalie play AND the skaters to play like the start of the season.  Regardless of who has been in net the Rangers have gotten away from playing 60 sold minutes in Laviolette’s system.  Maybe we get help at the trade deadline, but we need more than one consistent scoring line and stellar power play.  It’s a team scoring slump as well.

I don't really know how true that is.

What's painfully obvious is that his glove hand is a huge problem. He's keeping it way too low, you need to start your glove up high because it's easier to drop it down than it is to raise it up. He's got a lot of bad habits, and his head isn't on straight.

There are different books on every goalie, some of them are corners, and some of them are distance. Look at Valley's breakdown of Demko. He's great on all shots from enclosed, and not so great on all shots from a distance. That has nothing to do with corners, so the book is not the same on every goalie.

Correct, but he's a scapegoat because Drury did nothing to reshape the roster. "We good, it was just the coach guyz"

Then you have a tin foil hat on, and I don't know what else to tell you.

There's a reason that guy never made it to year 3 with any team and still doesn't have a job today.

It's not that deep. Occam's razor.

He didn't have salary cap to reshape the roster.

Benoit Allaire must be on an around-the-world cruise or something.

Apparently he's been busy working with Hank getting him ready for the Isles/Rangers alumni game.

There's no leader on this team.  No guy who when things get tough he takes the game over and shifts the tilt enough to let everybody else claw back.  That's what Messier was.

Nobody on this Ranger's team has that going on.

There will only ever be one Messier.  Guess 90% of tge league should give up because they don't have such a player either.

This isn't about missing one player.  A lot of his team seems to really not give a fuck. Their effort is dogshit.

Comes back to in this environment(tight flat cap, NMC, everyone gets a loser's point and isn't really out of it) hard to make major moves. And the ones that might have been made not long ago-Eichel, a Tkachuk bro-weren't made. Can't see there's any move like that available between now and the summer. So they're stuck hoping they can get Igor right and this core can get their heads out of their collective asses .

NMCs don't mean untradeable. Apply pressure. Hurt feelings.
