Hurricanes didn’t escape this game unscathed. Brett Pesce, a huge part of their defense, went down with a lower-body injury in the 2nd and didn’t return. It was a non-contact injury. Brind’Amour touched on it during his post-game presser and said he would be evaluated tomorrow but that it doesn’t look good for him. That would be a huge loss.

Be careful here.  What the Canes showed was that the game is a full 60 minutes long and plays are whistle to whistle. The Rangers have only 1 game down so far, plenty of more to go before we write off the Caps and Ovechkin.

This game did show that Freddy can still be turned to gelatin in the Playoffs. The Isles didn't have the D to hold it, but Anderson can be gotten to.
