QUOTE(S) TO NOTE:

“It unraveled in a way that everybody’s angry about. That’s not the outcome that we were looking for. It's not the result. I don't think that guys didn't show up and play hard. They did, but Vegas capitalized on their chances. We couldn't get them to drop.”

— Peter Laviolette on the Rangers loss to Vegas

Interesting how they drafted byfield as a center and moved him to the left, we drafted laf as a left and moved him to the right. I remember tons of discussions how rangers might chose c instead of winger. Now looking back, should drury have traded 1st overall for a second?

With Panarin and Kreider in hand drafting a LW was asking for trouble and trouble we got.

Should the Rangers have let the pick go for immediate help?  Probably.

Lafraniere was the consensus #1.  The Rangers weren’t drafting anyone else.  Who knows what they were offered for the pick but in hindsight yes they were better off trading the pick.

We weren't at the beginning of a rebuild we were in compete now mode and given everything else taking Laf was like being in have your cake and eat it too mode.

This primarily because we already had two top 6 LW's and he wasn't going to get PP opportunities, etc.

If MSG doesn't break format to show what ever pregame tribute the Kings have for Quick, that's disgraceful, but typical.

depends, I don’t want to see 2014 cup highlights.
