someone explain to me why they would need to put him on LTIR retroactively?  were we over the cap on 11/3?

It clears the cap for us to make moves. Since we can't accrue while LTIR is in play anyway, may as well clear the space if we're sure he'll miss the 10 games.

FWIW Svechnikov, an actual good player, busted his knee last year and has one goal this season so far.

Kaapo Kakko is fucked and I feel really bad for him. Hopefully he can figure out how to evolve his game after this injury because he realizes he may not have another chance.

They can accrue as long as they're below the ACSL but they're currently not with both Edstrom and Brodzinski up. With one down they'd be able to accrue.

but why retroactively? Cant make moves retroactively.  Maybe it does accrue?

LTIR requires a certain number of games missed (10) and days missed (24). If the move wasn't retroactive, he'd have to start that clock as of today. He's missed 10 games and 25 days with the move being made retroactive, so as soon as he's healthy they should be able to activate him, which might be a lot sooner than waiting another 10 games from today.

I'm not sure about the math side of things. Even with Fox coming off tomorrow, Kakko going on should have been enough space for the moves they made today.

that makes sense.  it has nothing to do with accruals in Chytil's case.

By the time Kakko comes back and feels like himself again (whatever that means lol) it might as well be a season-ending injury.

Way the playoffs can be a battle of attrition, may work out for the team, if not for him.
