Phil Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 They basically dumped him to get Howden back into the lineup. Whatever.
Drew a Penalty Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Makes sense to me. Lemieux didn't really have a long-term role here and Rooney/Blackwell/PDG are all more serviceable players. I imagine this is a precursor Gauthier dropping down to the 4th line rotation with Kravtsov taking his place on the third line.
Drew a Penalty Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 well that's a weak return. 4th liner gets a 4th liner return.
josh Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Rangers line-up lacks some serious toughness, though.

Winter Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 basically throwing someone out to get kravtsov space, assuming we might get a similar return for rooney and that'll wrap up our trades until off-season
Drew a Penalty Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 basically throwing someone out to get kravtsov space, assuming we might get a similar return for rooney and that'll wrap up our trades until off-season It goes beyond Kravtsov. Lemieux just isn't better than any of the competition here and the Rangers also have prospects knocking on the door next year like Morgan Barron and Justin Richards. You're not squeezing much more out of Lemieux at 25 so this is far from "throwing someone out."
Bugg Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Lemiueux's bid for a long term Matt Martin-like career as a 4th liner with the Rangers is now concluded. Obviously management wants to give Kravstov a shot, or Barron.
BlairBettsBlocksEverything Posted March 27, 2021 Author Posted March 27, 2021 Liked the toughness he brought. He definitely played hard and forechecked well. End of the day though, in this league your 4th line guys are guys you want to trust in PK or defensive minutes. 4th round pick in a draft that is t being scouted much due to covid could be a home run. We also have buffalos 3rd (Vesey) so we have ammo to trade up if we need to
Cash or Czech Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 I’m not upset by it. Guy brought toughness but lacked skill and the overall ability to not be a liability Sent from my iPhone using Blueshirts Brotherhood mobile app powered by Tapatalk
BlairBettsBlocksEverything Posted March 27, 2021 Author Posted March 27, 2021 Take it from me. Don’t fall in love with 4th liners (I got the Betts jersey when I was 16 don’t judge)
Dunny Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 I guess he didn't go to the right Prep School, and they weren't able to turn him in to oatmeal, like the rest of the personality-less roster. It's now Zibanejad and a bunch of guys who pretend they can't speak english.

Morphinity 2.0 Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 Let's be honest, he fucking sucked. He brought chippiness to the table for sure, but he got his ass beat in most fights and took dumb ass penalties. I won't be sad to see him gone.
Dunny Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 You could say that. You could also say he out produced Kappo Kakko, because he did. 1
Morphinity 2.0 Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 That says more about Kakko than it does Lemieux.
Pete Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 That says more about Kakko than it does Lemieux. That Kakko went to the right prep school?
ThirtyONE Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 A little surprised but definitely not gonna cry about it. Lemieux wasn’t the player I thought they were getting. I guess he isn’t the guy the Rangers thought they were getting either.
