GDT [RS] (#31) Rangers vs. Edmonton Oilers — It's a Trap (Game)!
Dunny replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
I watched Sam Gagner play in the AHL 5 years ago. Absolutely wild he's been able to hang around. -
Brooks Rangers' Ryan Lindgren Needs to Develop Spatial Awareness on Ice
Dunny replied to Scott's topic in New York Rangers
Their top athlete makes less than a MLB 5th starter. Their revenues are a fraction of the other 3 leagues. Their national broadcasters generally regret their broadcasting deals before the ink has dried. I honestly don't know anybody that even watches this league, other than when their favorite team is on. I assume they do exist, though. It is what it is, but personally, I'd rather have the version of the game where there's a chance a player goes in to the stands and beats a fan with his own shoe. -

Good thing they did, too, look how good the league is doing now. What a pay off. lol. -
They showed some numbers on that subject last night on TSN and they weren't pretty.

I don't blame him at all, but Leafs guys were harping on how bad his glove has become. I don't look at it as a glove hand problem.. Nobody has a great glove, anymore, he's no different. I just think if he plays some shots more aggressively, like he used to, more pucks will find his glove/arm/shoulder.

Here's the thing, you can ask him "protect himself" or don't "reach for the puck" etc etc If Ryan Lindgren isn't putting himself in vulnerable positions to make plays, he's not going to be an NHL D Man. That's his whole shtick. Lindgren going through motions and dialing it back is a 2nd pair AHL D Man. I'm pretty sure he's very aware of this. -
Played better last night. His feet are still the fastest I've ever seen. I pretty much make my 7 yo watch his lateral play on repeat. Would like to see a more aggressive push out on obvious incoming shots. I think that would help his glove, even cutting another 10-12" worth of angle down. His push off the post on goal #2 was bad/sad.

GDT [RS] (#30) Rangers vs. Toronto Maple Leafs — the Long Rake of Revenge
Dunny replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
I sucked a lot of wang to get the corporate tix for this one. I'll be watching from my hotel room. lol. -
He just really needs to make that extra save. With Igor, that save usually comes in the 1st 10 minutes of a game. He made some ridiculous saves tonight. They're bleeding grade A chances, it's not good, but a better start to games for Igor would go a long way. I'm all for giving Quick a few more reps, but that'll start showing diminishing returns pretty fast imo. Better to shelter him and get your horse on track.

It's just so frustrating that they seemingly have eight 10 million dollar players, and will add at the deadline, and we feel lucky to have a guy in desperate need of a haircut and a nifty little Russian dude nobody takes seriously after Easter. Wish we were better on the cap side. We don't have near the horses to beat the Leafs at their game.

MLB Shohei Ohtani Signs 10-Year/$700M Deal With Dodgers; $70M AAV
Dunny replied to Phil's topic in Other Sports
Baseball is certainly not the #1 sport here, but I think people would be surprised at how ingrained it is here, certainly in Ontario and BC. Rogers having the Blue Jays is kore important to them than the NHL rights, that's for sure. -

I think Overdrive went to baseball, and SN did drag out the two baseball guys in the PM. I dunno, I was at work, nobody was working, just refreshing Twitter. The plane tracking stuff, sushi restaurant reservations getting checked, that was all fun, what pissed everyone off was the two accredited reporters basically confirming it all. I still think they're the front runners. They're going to have a deal structured that'll be close to 1 billion CDN that'll include some equity opportunities. If not, the fallout will be equally enjoyable. -

Update: It was all bullshit. What a crazy day on Jays Twitter. -
Del Zotto is gonna be able to go on one of these once a month.

I'm decking my 7 yo goalie out in all Brian's for Xmas. He's going to look like mini Shesterkin. He's already worn through his Bauer starter pads, that stuff is garbage. I'm dumb, but I had shit gear growing up. I probably have some issues around that. Xmas is a great time to splurge on equipment a bit. You don't feel so bad.

It's not a joke. They've waited for almost 300(!) NHL games for him to show something, and now he's worth a 5th round draft pick, because Rangers.

Yeah, they had played well prior, but this was different. I finally felt confident swinging by big Rangers cock around after this.

This was really the moment they put 8 years of utterly embarrassing futility to bed.

GDT [RS] (#16) Rangers at Dallas Stars — Artemi Get Your Gun
Dunny replied to High and Wide's topic in New York Rangers
I love Wedgewood. He's always fantastic when I watch him play. He just looks like he threw the gear on 10 minutes prior to puck drop, too. No BS, no fruity headbands or silk gloves. Just goes out and stops the puck. -
Gotta be a way they can check that out? When is hitting introduced in the US?

It's 95% of the towns social life for 6 months a year. Most of our parents crave it. It's all about the parents, after all. I'm not much better. We put the GDP of Namibia in to my daughter's dance every year, and my youngest son is going to have to essentially prove to me he's not a junior B level goalie before I stop spending on him. Long story short, we're very, very poor, and very busy.

Yeah, me too. When I make this statement at board meetings everyone looks at me like I have two heads. Why would you sink thousands of dollars and tonnes of time in to a kid that just wants to go for a skate and score a goal once a year. I don't get it. There's 37 teams in his division this year. 3 hour drive from tip to tip of the loop. Dumbest shit ever.
