I actually avoided this as I thought I knew what it was, and I don't like to consider stuff like this. However, I saw it by accident, and first of all Petgrave should be charged with manslaughter. Absolutely reckless. I very quickly went and purchased Kevlar Yashins for my two boys. Very disturbing stuff. I really enjoy the macho side of hockey. I generally frown upon overbearing PPE, but I can't fathom why guys don't wear the Kevlar turtleneck. Goalies just completely forgo anything supplemental to the basic goalie mask. It's crazy.

We're definitely dumb tourists. @CCCP any specific spots you could recommend? Never had pork knuckle, though have ate a few pounds of pig tails in my day, I'll be sure to try. Also want to find some currywurst. Big beer halls, something like that.

I think it's actually cheap at least compared to 25 years ago. I always had shit gear. I was called up to junior as an emergency back up when I was 14. I was probably 5'6. GM looked at my gear and told me to wear the backups stuff because I looked like I just arrived on a Helo from Vietnam. Back up was 6'6. Warmups were extremely embarrassing. You can find pretty good value in the mid range, now. Custom is custom, but with FB and shit, you can find deals.

I still have Fedorov Nikes I stole from my last junior team in 2002. Get many comments, lots of jealousy. The runner is snapped in half, but as long as I only circle clockwise they still work. On the ice in these bad boys 3 or 4 times a week. My favorite thing to do is just run anybody wearing True's out of the rink. They should probably be banned. They look like the $19.99 specials from Canadian Tire all the poor kids wore in the 80's. Equipment is like crack. Have my 7 year old goalie kitted out nicely for under $1000. Move up to intermediate size and it's $4000. Senior? $6000! They sell you the kids shit for virtually cost knowing you'll be back...

Their contract situation is not as bad as I thought it was. You could probably turn it around pretty quick. The candidates to get the boot are pretty obvious. On the down side, the division has two other teams that will spend as much as the Yankees, in TO and Boston, another team who is absolutely stacked with young talent, and the best farm in baseball in Baltimore, and another team, Tampa Bay, who has the secret sauce, as long as their pitching arms don't fall off, and their SS can stop banging 8th graders. It's tough being in the wilderness in this division, I would know, but it doesn't look as bad as I hoped. They are absolutely going to waste Cole and Judge, however, over the next 3 years.

How come nobody I know that I played with, or against have issues with "CTE"? Weird how it just jumps up and bites professionals. Really dodged a bullet, there. Good thing the lead proponent of CTE isn't a crazy fraudster, or anything like that, I'm sure they have the science settled, and people definitely know what they're talking about. Anyways, fighting is banned all over the place, now. It's not a big deal, you just have to pick your spots better and have a couple guys in that role on the roster you can rotate through. We did this in Minor Hockey and probably averaged 2 fights/game with it being "banned". Everyone went on to lead normal lives, too. Crazy. I see the same thing in the PJHL every weekend. It can actually be a good thing as you lose the staged garbage (Though some of those were good, too, at all levels, and sold a lot of tickets around that) and now the only fights you'll see are when 2 guys really hate each other, or emotions spill over. That's good, entertaining hockey I don't really want to lose.

Played 3rd 4 man scramble in past two weeks. I think I could do it every day until I died of consumption. Team golf is just such a blast. Pretty much balancing golf with divorce at this point. I'm about 50 rounds/year. She understands my need to compete, but I'm at the limit. Total golf degenerate. Have it down to a 7, and a traveling 7 at that. Never played a sport this frustrating and addicting. Just put the ZX5's in the bag with a new Tri-Hot 7. So also balancing a pending bankruptcy with divorce lol. Don't care. Gotta keep playing.
