Both Miller and Chytil would command a decent enough return. What could you get in return for them that you'd still be able to keep for cheap enough in order to accommodate Tarasenko? Unless it were just picks/prospects.

I think an unlikely trade of Trouba, Trocheck or Kreider is the only way the Rangers could realistically keep Tarasenko.

 

The young guys just aren't going to give enough cap space.  It's got to be somebody north of $5.5M.

Define "realistic."

 

Goodrow (3.6) + Laugh (2.5 approximate) for futures is the basically 6 million it would probably cost to keep Tarasenko.

Doubt Tarasenko comes here for less than 4-5 mill. 

 

Obviously Goodrow can go. Are people alright with also getting rid of Lafrenière?  Such a move reopens the door for Cuylle or Othmann. 

 

I mean,  if you're clearing cap to bring a guy in, do it for Keller. Not a short term fix. As solid of a fit that Tarasenko is,  I don't know if it's worth the trouble for a guy that only has 2 years of really good hockey left, if he's lucky.

 

Then again it is just Lafrenière going and bringing back assets (hopefully). Goodrow is more valuable to this team than Lafrenière at this time.

I'm there too. When I look at our top 6 and their age, I'd rather go for a Keller if we moved two young guys than get older. Keller is actually fairly reasonable for the next 3 years at under 8m. He's probably a 70 point player for us.

That's where I'm at. I'd trade a significant young piece for Keller. I'm not doing it to free space up for Tarasenko. No way.

Especially after already paying for him as a rental. A first, a 4th, an AHL d man, Goodrow and Miller or Lafrenière for 2 years of Tarasenko?  It's a bit much. 

 

I'm only interested if he signed a Wheeler like deal.  Him and Kane fucking owe US. Nevermind that they need to accept that they'd be middle 6 players if they come here.
