Very much looking forward to see krav on this line who has really been unimpressive so far. If he’s going to show some chemistry it should be now

I mean it takes time sometimes. It’s basically a new line with a first time nhl’r. I’d say give them 15 games or so to build that chemistry if you really want to go with that lineup. Hopefully it’s sooner than that.

Nah, we keep repeating it.

“It’s just one game of Vesey in October”

yeah, you don’t get it. No sense continuing to repeat ourselves to you

There's nothing to "get", you don't have a point.

Ryan Malone made the team and lasted 6 games before hitting unconditional waivers.

Jarrett Stoll played in 29.

So if Vesey makes the team and plays 10 games, and you think that's what's going to "ruin" anyone...Yea, sure, keep thinking that.

It's almost like he's trying to win games... Because he's an NHL coach... And the NHL isn't a developmental league.

A rebuilding team is a developmental team. And if they don't want to develop their top prospects in the NHL, why won't they send them to the AHL?

Can't complain about lack of development from young players, if you don't want the responsibility of developing them.  And the issue is that in this day and age, teams have to put in the time to get their prospects to grow.

At this rate the Rangers will still have question marks about 1st and 2nd overall draft picks in their 4th year in the league. It's backwards. You don't stall on these guts. You do everything you can to get the best out of them. What a waste.

I'm in complete agreement with the Dude's summary above.  Just need to add Ol' Man Reaves into that discussion.   The difference in length of leashes on which players are held is completely inconsistent.

The thing is. I get the need for Reaves. He serves a purpose. They need what he occasionally brings.  The price tag is a bit much, but he's not necessarily taking someone else's role. If they had a menacing, scary, decent skating enforcer in the system I'd get the hate on Reaves. He's pretty much the last of his kind and is instantly a character/fixture for the lockerroom. There's zero doubt the team played with more backbone and confidence with him on the roster. I can't take that away from him. I'm not the biggest fan of him, but he did what he was brought here to be.

Then again. Tom Wilson never got what should have been coming to him..

They're not rebuilding. They went to the ECF last season. Kids are gonna have to learn on the fly.

They were rebuilding the last 3+ year's and nobody expected them to be this competitive. They never really rebuilt. They should have and still should be, but in the final stages.  3 years ago the had the 1st OA pick. How aren't they rebuilding?  Everyone knows there is going to be a step backwards this season.  That step backwards is supposed to be filling in the gaps with prospects that should be developing.  They're back to rebuilding man. Like it or not.

This year is about Kakko, Lafreniere,  Kravtsov, Schneider,  Jones and Miller taking that big step. If it's not rebuilding... what is it?

Which is why you don't really need him.  He had three fighting majors last year.  Yes, you can argue that he intimidated the opposition into not fighting, but maybe it's just because there aren't that many goons.  He is too slow to play in the NHL at this point, plain and simple.  All of his hits are along the boards, because he's not quick enough to line anyone up in open ice.

We'll maybe he can get in a bar fight with Suban now, given that he didn't get him on the ice last year.

You are way too hung up on Reaves. He's not good, but he's not actually costing them games either. What do you think replacing fourth line right wing is going to solve the 5 on 5 problem?

One of the better things that could come out of this season is Vesey plays his way into the lineup, stays there, then gets traded at the deadline for our rental earning us an asset for absolutely nothing.

If Vesey is still here at the trade deadline, their is no way they are trading him....That will mean he is playing well enough to stick in the line up, and relying on him in the bottom 6 for a playoff run.

Right.

Any team selling isn't going to want Vesey back unless they strip so much of their roster that they need a warm body.

I think that’s what the Trocheck is evolving into

well as long as theyre potentially breaking up the kid line - throwing Goodrow on there - might as well give chytil another shot with Panarin. especially if he seems due to breakout.
