I grew up on Xbox, so I have an affinity for the Xbox controller. It takes a connector dongle because of the Xbox controller's unique frequency which is an annoying extra cost, but I have had zero issues with the setup whatsoever. I can't speak for those games specifically, but most games designed for controllers/consoles in mind have great mapping already. I've never had an issue with a mainstream game I tried to play.

If you're an FPS player, I've put about 20 hours into BF2042 lately. Launch was a dumpster fire, there's not a ton of maps or guns, but the core of the game is still battlefield even if the specialists are also kinda bleh. If it's on sale for $15 to $20, I'd reco it. Never at $60 though.

OK, I can look into that or something that's at least close to an XBOX controller.

Yeah, that game really wasn't doing it for me just looking at it from the outside. The franchise itself is fine, but that game looked like a disaster from the start and it still looks like it. lol Once I set it up this weekend I was going to play through the campaigns of Doom and Doom Eternal. If I do get into online play, I thought about Overwatch. It looks like a lot of fun and I like the characters and art style. I really haven't done any of that sort of thing in a very long time. I was a huge Half Half and Counterstrike guy back in the day.

I'm forcing myself to play to make good on my "investment" since I tried refunding 3 times and Steam kept saying no LOL.

All are good choices. CS:GO still has a huge playerbase, Overwatch has been steady for a while as well. I would not suggest CoD Vanguard as that game is awful. Halo Infinite's multiplayer is free if you're feeling nostalgic as well.

Yeah, I definitely want to give Overwatch a try and I'll look into CS again. As far as Call of Duty goes, I really want to play WWII now that I have a PC that can handle it easily. I don't know how active the multiplayer would be on that now, but I at least want to play through the campaign and the zombie missions.

CoD WWII is on sale on Steam for $20 right now, just FYI

I doubt anyone plays the multiplayer still though.

Rainbow Six Siege is still a blast to play. I played a bunch on Xbox when it first came out years ago, then stopped playing for a few years. After the full time switch to PC and dumping the Xbox last year, I got back into it. It's fun. For any FPS though, there's a major disadvantage aiming with a controller versus mouse. You can only go so far with a controller. I use keyboard/mouse almost exclusively now.

Sieve got myself and a few coworkers through the first year of Covid lol. Nothing to do on days off except co-op for hours

Counter strike tournaments in high school were def. Better than getting laid. In my defense I was doing both.

Lucky. lol I know I played a ton of Counterstrike outside of school. Sometimes I'd hook up on there with a couple of friends or just random people. I remember the days where I'd actually get up a bit earlier on a school day and play for a couple of hours before school. It was an obsession.

Cs and later on WoW were fun as hell with friends. Can’t remember the last time I played like that.

What're you putting it to work with?

I'm using my old setup - I didn't grab a new mobo/processor for it; still rocking my i7-8086 at 4.0ghz/core.

It's a little bottlenecked, but nothing intolerable. Next upgrade is going to be a 4k monitor since the difference between my 2k and my HD is now absolutely glaring.

Cyberpunk has been my go-to game and it looks amazing, even in 2k.

Nice! Yeah, the higher the resolution the more reliant on the GPU, so pushing that will definitely be even more suitable to the current build. What games/programs are you putting through the ringer?

Maxing out Cyberpunk is sweet. Got my eyes on a few others - waiting on sales for Elden Ring and some of the stuff Sony just moved into Steam.

Gonna push Doom Eternal soon too.

Got me a 3080 last month. Absolute workhorse of a GPU

That's what I got with my new build too! I haven't played with it that much yet, but the new Doom and Wolfenstein run like a dream. I have Cyberpunk on PS5, but I might just double dip and get the PC version. I could do the same for Elden Ring too, but I just like playing that on console, I don't mind. Maybe in the future, I'll see. I really wish Bloodborne would get a PC release.

Check out the LG C2 42" if you have the space. Quite possibly one of the best all round gaming displays currently available.

I’ve been meaning to give Cyberpunk a go since it’s finally been patched and fixed but I’d be on a series X. Next gen update came out so I’m good there but a good modding community can’t be beat on pc.

I'm still working my way through the core game, but I'll say I've found it to be very well done. The story, particularly, is very good.

I swore off Call of Duty like 4 years ago. Last one I got was Black Ops 4. Had played for years before that since COD4. Having fun with the Modern Warfare 2 beta though.

COD used to be fun until they took out the strategy of it. I get that they wanted to discourage camping and stuff like that but now it seems like you spawn and there are 360 degrees at all times of guys around you. There used to be choke points, funneling guys, and strategy. Now it’s just run aimlessly.
