Rangers Give Kravtsov Permission to Seek Trade; Loaned to KHL

Ah, he was supposed to see the future. He sure should've known that Rangers would luck into back-to-back lottery picks right after he signed his ELC. And he also should've known that those two could play like dogshit and still get gifted top 6 minutes, while he barely could get 4th line minutes no matter how he played.

When he got sent down and Kakko/Laf was gifted top 6 minutes and Gauthier and Hunt would take the remaining winger spots he realised there was no spots for him and he did the same as Fox.

And the contract argument is kinda funny because you've been shitting on him for leaving for Russia last time aswell when he had a Russia outclause IN HIS CONTRACT.

Did you ever stop to think that maybe, just maybe, the minutes aren't being gifted, and that the players are putting in the work and doing what they're being asked to do...And Kravtsov just isn't? Nah, that can't be it.

I'm so tired of hearing how Howden was gifted this and that over Andersson, and now Laf and Kakko are  being gifted this and that over Kravtsov. It's seems painfully clear that Andersson and Kravtsov weren't putting in the work and in VKs case we have confirmation of it.

At this point I don't know what to tell you. He's not the victim you're making him  out to be. He's a victim of his own piss poor attitude and work ethic.

Do you apply this standard to the labour market, in general, or just professional athletes?

What standard are you referring to? If you're career path is being blocked by someone, finding a new job? Happens every day.

Also depends on if you have a contract.

Right, and if you're emoyer tells you you're going to be a director @ 250k a year, then puts you in a coordinator role  30k, would you be in your moral rights to leave for another employer @ 250k?

CBA, and Kravtsov's puzzling attitude aside, it's not an easy answer, and there's two sides to this story.

I think you guys are talking past each other because this isn't really about legality. This is about ethics, that's why people are pissed at this guy. It's a bitchy and childish thing to do, when your promotion that you've been working so hard for, is delayed by what is obviously just a single review period, to then quit the company and refuse to do your job until you're promoted. What you do is say fine, you look for other jobs in the role you think you deserve, and if you find one you think suits you, then great. What VK did here is quit the team, he is the one who burned this bridge, and while we can talk all about how management should have seen this coming and maybe handled it differently (they should have), ultimately the onus for not acting like a childish bastard lies on the individual.

Are we all frustrated that this is yet another top prospect whose relationship with the team has soured? Absolutely, and it's right to question management in that case. But at the same time this is a situation where anyone could have looked at VK this year and said, "listen, play your five games in the AHL, then go show the team what you're made of." Maybe they did, who knows. But he chose to quit, and that's about ethics, not legality.

Europeans have an option of going home to play in a minor league rather than playing in a minor league here.  For North Americans the AHL is home league.  For some reason that gets passed us.

i dont see it as quitting.  He's going to come back and try to make the team next season.  If he doesnt again, decisions will be made by him and his camp.  If the rangers dont see him as an NHLer, maybe some other NHL team does.

North Americans can go play in Europe.  They KHL is full of guys that couldn't stick in the NHL.

Depends on if I was performing as a director or a coordinator, right?

Again the key point here, with Krav under contract, is that he refused the assignment.  Hard stop.

You wanna ask for a trade?  Cool, but keep playing.  Tarasenko asked for a trade and had plenty of reason for it.  Trade didn't happen.  Still playing for the Blues and playing at a high level.  The reason Krav's trade value is low is because other teams see how he acts if he doesn't get his way.  Every GM in the league is now thinking "Ok this kid is talented, but if he runs to Europe on the Rangers, will he do that to us?"

Are the owners free to disregard the CBA? Maybe just not honor the UFA clause for a player they don't want to pay/lose?

idk, according to Drury "we decided a loan to Traktor was in the best interests of both him and the organization,"

Well that's a bit of guess work on many people's part. What if it's DRURY, who is being the childish bitchy person by having a problem the kid fir past issues?

AGAIN. Gallant originally said the decision was not his. So, this falls on Drury actually thinking Hunt, Tinordi, Hajek AND Gauthier  all out played Kravtsov in preseason. That just didn't happen. It didn't.  None of them stood out over Kravtsov.  Infact Kravtsov looked poised to be inserted into a top 9 role.

I'm going with blaming Drury, because there are 3 avenues that lead to this potential outcome.

1) Drury was testing him and got the reaction he expected.  Which is just foolish management.

2) Drury wanted to stack the roster to beat up Tom Wilson. Which, didn't happen.. Because... I dunno. Reaves has yet to wow me with any type intensity.  Hunt is dog shit. Tinordi is an AHL lifer. Goodrow is potentially the worst contract the Rangers have handed out since Holik.. Or Trouba...

3) Drury truly wanted protect these 4 guys from waivers and played the numbers game. The guy with the option to not clear waivers wound up being Kravtsov.  Which really just makes me scratch my head. Because this possibility ties into the 1st . How did he not see this coming? Why not pick Lundkvist? Miller? Kakko? Lafreniere? Oh. Probably because they all would have been unhappy too. Yet, their being sent down would have been warranted.  None looked particularly good in preseason.

But somehow this is automatically all on Kravtsov? Unprovoked? As if he didn't have a reason? LOOK AT THE WING DEPTH! They need him and he had every right to be annoyed.  He was right! He belongs in the top 9!!

Sure, leave out the entire context of the situation.

Yes, at this point when Krav refuses assignment and returns to Russia, it's in everyone's best interest to have him playing as opposed to not playing.

But I wouldn't expect you to use the context since you keep trying to push the narrative that "Drury doesn't know how waivers works."

Keep an eye on Vitali Kravtsov, the New York Rangers’ No. 9 overall pick from the 2018 NHL Draft, who had NHL teams buzzing after his first game back in the KHL on loan with Traktor Chelyabinsk.

League sources say the Montreal Canadiensand Ottawa Senators were the two teams who expressed the most interest in Kravtsov, who refused his assignment to AHL Hartford and forced his way back to Russia. The Rangers gave Kravtsov’s agent, Dan Milstein, permission to help seek a trade.

Some dude on Daily Face-off says Sens & Hab are interested in a trade.

Frank Seravalli, yeah.

Problem is, neither team has much to offer that would likely satisfy fans, who aren't going to want to sell VK for an average NHL winger or  B-level prospect. The idea of Caufield getting flipped for him seems unlikely.

To be honest we could use an average nhl winger that plays in the top 9

AJT but not for Kravtsov.

They need someone with some offensive ability if they are getting rid of a young, top 10 draft pick.

Right. Thta's why I don't think OTT/MTL work in a deal. They want Kravtsov precisely because they don't have much offensive talent, and the offensive talent they do have, they're not dealing for him. Like, you're not getting Drake Batherson or Josh Norris for him.
