NY JETS Discussion

Wilson has been a very capable game manager. They’re basically asking him to not lose them games with turnovers. But when he’s needed to make throws, he’s made throws. That 33-yard completion to GW was a thing of beauty. He’s got confidence. And if you can roll a game plan around his strengths, the talent is there for the Jets to put up points. And really, with the schedule they have and the way their defense is playing, they shouldn’t need to be putting up 30 points per game or anything.

Still, can’t take anything for granted. The Giants game, after the Bye, will be a test. Classic trap game. But with the hype it will get from local media, regardless of how awful the Giants have been, the Jets should be ready to go that game; hopefully with Sauce and DJ Reed back in the secondary by then.

I would just like to see the defense start games better. They’ve given up early TDs against Dallas, KC and Philly (off what felt like a never ending drive). It seems it takes them a series or 2 to really get a good read of the offense. Not a knock, just one area I would like to see them tighten up. That being said, look at the opponents I just mentioned. Not exactly an easy accomplishment.

Not optimistic here.  Zach Wilson is still a bad QB albeit they've put some lipstick on the pig.

I have the benefit of having watched Richard Todd play for the Jets for 6+ seasons and this is the same thing.  When ZW plays at the top of his game he looks competent.  When he doesn't he looks bad.  No defense on earth is going to take a QB like that to the Super Bowl.

And before we start with the Trent Dilfer comparisons, the 2000 Ravens defense was probably in the top 5 all time.  Maybe in the top 3.

With the way it looks and sounds, Rodgers is beyond being ahead of schedule. A return at any point this season would be unprecedented. Achilles surgeries are usually the longest to return from. But he is so far ahead of schedule, it’s bordering on insane. He’s out of a boot, off crutches, walking and throwing. Many are beginning to speculate he may be back, if the Jets remain in contention, by Christmas. And that would be…wild.

The Jets are 3-3 and have played Dallas, KC, Philly and Buffalo. That is a ridiculously tough part of the schedule for any team. They now have a little bit of an easier piece of the schedule that they can hopefully pounce on.

The Jets best chance at making the playoffs is to further simplify the offense and allow ZW to take periodic shots downfield in the process.

No shotgun.  Maybe 75% of the plays are either runs or play action to freeze the LB's and safeties.  Have ZW rollout on a lot of the plays after play action and read just half the field.  Put a RB or TE on a vertical pattern in the middle of the field and have a WR deep on the sideline.  Let ZW read just those two guys and then throw it to one of them, pull it down and run or just throw it away depending on how much pressure he's facing.

Zach Wilson is not a good QB but he might be a pretty good ringmaster in the right circus.

Zach Wilson makes truly execrable QB's look good by comparison.

I mean this is such a horror story at this point that it's hard to believe the Jets aren't marketing it that way.

Not making excuses, but he has been brutal in bad weather games; specifically rain. That game in that weather was always going to be catastrophic. But, hey, ugly or not, one team wins and one team loses. Take the W and move on to Week 9.

He's just bad period.  The OL being putrid this year accentuates the obvious fact that the QB doesn't have the talent to play in the NFL.

The serious conversation that we need to be having at this point is whether the ownership is just too big a handicap for the Jets ever to be successful.

Jets vs Raiders isn't the rivalry that it used to be but it is usually entertaining.

Gonna bring it to you guys this week.  I don't like our chances with you guys coming off a bad loss, but we're gonna give it a go!!!

Our rookie QB has his work cut out for him against you guys this week!

I wouldn't worry much.  Word on the street is that Saleh wants to sit Zach Wilson and somebody north of him in the org chart is saying no.

It's your defense that worries me.  You guys can eat up our offense.  I'm really curious to see how Aiden O'Connell does against you guys!

He's probably going to suck.  The question is whether you guys can put any pressure on the Jets OL on passing downs and whether you like parades down the field chasing Breece Hall.  If the answer is yes and no we are going to lose.

Joe Douglas is really lucky he doesn't coach a Soviet team.  No way he'd still be alive at this point.

Top 5 defense paired with the worst offense in the league and he's responsible for every single player on that offense.

I'm just totally disgusted at this point.  It's like the Jets have setup the perfect system to consistently fail and the owners are blind to the flaws they have presided over.

You guys should've won that game.  Even though Maxx was super human yet again, I think the Jets could've pulled it out.  Penalties in the red zone just killed you guys!

The QB killed us (again).  The OL blows chunks (still, 4 years after Joe Douglass started fixing it).

It's just a total mess at this point and there's no way out because the Jets tied themselves to Aaron Rodgers for at least another year.

And yet somehow no one thinks these things are related.

Zach Wilson is a terrible QB.  Also the OL blows chunks.

The problem with blaming the OL for Zach's performance is that everybody else the Jets have put in at QB in the 3 years Zach has been here has been better.  In some cases much better.

Occam's Razor - when one QB stinks up the house and everybody else is at least ok it generally means the guy stinking up the house stinks.

Zach Wilson is the worst QB ever to get multiple starts in 3 seasons.  He's worse than all the veteran backups who got incidental multiple starts in 3 seasons due to injuries to the starters.  He's worse than most of the druggies who could not get to their third season because drugs washed them out.  He's worse than all of the other top 3 picks who got drafted and blew out early or never got a real chance because they were that bad.

The question is when are the Jets going to suddenly realize that the Emperor is naked and they need to throw some clothes on?  The Emperor in this case not being Zach Wilson but being the franchise as a whole.

The last time a franchise gave the number of starts to anybody near as bad as Wilson was when the Detroit Lions decided to go double or nothing on Joey Harrington for half a decade.  That decision kept them out of the playoffs for another decade after that.

Can anybody say 25 year playoff drought for the Jets?  Because that's where we're headed.

Aaron Rodgers will last half a season tops for the Jets next year and that's not going to do it.

Well, Zach finally got benched in the 10th game of a lost season.  Seen this show before.  Twice even.

Next comes the postgame presser where Saleh announces Zach will be back next week.  Because he has no authority to actually bench him.  Which is one of the big reasons this team is hopeless right now.

The easy thing to do is pin this all on Wilson. It’s a cop out. Yeah, the kid sucks. He’s in over his head. He’s doing the exact same shit he did last year around this time, same situation after the team rolled off a few wins and had some hope. But the bottom line is this: there is A LOT wrong with this team.

The offensive line, which had its issues even when healthy, isn’t healthy. We are down to having a OLine that couldn’t stop a nosebleed. On top of that, Lazard may be one of the worst free agent signings in Jets history. He is hot hands from Little Giants all grown up. He has dropped ball after ball the last several weeks. On top of that, Garrett Wilson is pressing and can’t seem to hold onto the football. And when he makes an explosive move, and has tons of field, Zach never sees him. Teams know to just stack the box and stop Breece and the Jets offense is that of a high school football team.

Im all for benching Zach. They need a change to jolt that side of the ball. He’s been brutal. The pick is never going to pan out. And honestly, there is no way he’s on the team next year. You can’t sell it. You need to get a veteran backup for Rodgers, and then what’s Wilson? A 3? What’s he here to do? Learn? Nope, the exercise is over. He needs a fresh start and the Jets need to cut bait here. But the same issues persisted when Boyle, who also stinks, came in. Drops, no time, pressure everywhere.

The rumors about the Jets and Davante Adam’s swirl going into the off-season. And I hate to sound like a star fucker here, but he’s exactly what they need. Wilson (Garrett) is doubled up constantly. They need to get more weapons on that side of the ball. Big time. Because Allen Lazard is NOT that guy.

And above all, the offensive line needs a major, major revamp. It’s downright nauseating. And so is watching this team lately. Unbelievable how the same thing that happened last year is happening again.
