  1. Shesty will be the #1. That's been obvious through out the season since his call up. Personally, I'd give Henrik his chance to steal back the reigns for this historic opportunity. The team has nothing to lose, being they were out of a playoff spot when the season halted. I give it to Henrik with the understanding that ...."Listen man, this is your last shot here. We are moving on next season. Go out and bring the cup back here!" The competitive nature in Henrik could be the extra push this team may need to really progress through this tournament. Hell, I'll one up that and give him the C to carry this team over the mountain. If he does it, EPIC story in Ranger history. If he doesn't, we lose out on the asterisk Cup. Go get em Henke! Bring the cup back to NY!! ^Will never happen but one can wish.
  2. I was a cord cutter but am re upping for cable tv. This years playoffs are going to be epic, simply because it seems like more of a hockey tournament than an actual cup run. Looking forward to this! (Even with the asterisk) I forsee Panarin and Zib picking up where they left off. Let's hope the club can follow suit. When you think of the timing, we really got lucky because Shesty and Kreider are both back with immense rest to heal their injuries.
  3. Panarin was on par for a career year with Strome. The fact that he made ADA better too is the key to a great team, no? If everyone is having career years together then I'd say that's a pretty solid base for a team. Especially one looking to grab its footing on the tail end of a rebuild.
  4. Agreed. Retain both. I stand by DeAngelo is a commodity all seek and few find. RFA at the end of this season? 3 years/5 mil. Send him to UFA if he regresses. Pay him his due as a UFA in 3 years if it seems fit. Give Strome 3 years/ 5 mil also. That seals up some pretty good pieces in this rebuild for the tail end of it. Remember when Jagr and Nylander were broken up? Jagr wasnt as effective or productive (still Jagr though) Cant break up chemistry and that is exactly what Panarin and Stromer have.
  5. The future on D looks bright. How far in the future? We have a top tier offensive D man NOW. We have 2 potential MVP candidates in Zib and Bread. We have a stud for a goalie coming in now. I'm not gambling on future Hope's when we have something tangible now. No way. This team is on the fringe of being something special. Losing pieces that we have developed isnt the answer. The answer lies within keeping the flow of middling forwards and d men moving instead of paying big money to them. Buch is a great example.
  6. ADA was the biggest piece of the Stepan trade considering our pick with that #7 pick. He is everything we would want in a developed offensive D man. I dont understand this mentality of giving up our developed pieces to go develop another and hope they turn out as well as the piece we give up. ADA's numbers are elite numbers this year. We developed that talent and this break out season. IMO he would be a piece we build around, not send off and hope for something as valuable. ADA, Zib and Panarin are the drivers of this offense. Shesty is the future in net. Trouba had been chosen as the main defensive piece to build around; if we send anyone away in order to keep Fox, I say, let it be Trouba.
  7. That's a helluva start for sure. History is on our side. I'll be happy to see them play even though the best case would be the draft pick for us. Hell, a championship would be nice even with the asterisk.
  8. https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/1974885 Rangers in, in newest proposal.... And we get the.....Hurricanes!
  9. Hands down. This team with Panarin sits just outside the playoffs. This team without him dwells in the bottom few teams in the standings. Love Zib but he was not the game breaker that Panarin was and I dont know if you can pin any teams success on one player as much as you can on Panarin for the Rangers. MVP all day.
  10. 4 all the way. Brent Burns on Chiclets seemed like a real cool dude to hang out with. Not so bro'y.
  11. Has anything like that ever happened before? That's something I never thought about. Wierd.
  12. 1. Going out to Restaurants 2. Hockey- my league and NHL 3. Not having to wear an N95 at work and worrying about bringing this shit home to my kids and wife Things that I have enjoyed: 1. More family time at home without having plans 2. My free time to go fish and spend time outside.
  13. 1-2 mil/ 2-3 years.....tradable and gives him time to develop. Definitely not giving up on him. Potential for a nasty PF. Let's give him some time.
  14. We are so open at this point. I appreciate all of the points of view. Definitely like 4 seasons, would like to be near mountains and ocean/large lake. Preferably within an hour of a major city. The CO suggestion sounds pretty good. Texas, Colorado and North/South Carolina seem to all keep coming up. Lower income and property taxes are definitely on the list. A slower pace of life than NJ, maybe a little more purple than the red area of the state I currently live. Wife and my familys have lived in northwest NJ for generations. I'm a cop out here with an associates degree so going elsewhere may be tough especially with the time I have in already with a guaranteed state pension. Been kicking around moving to the private sector but my lack of a 4 year+ degree seems to be a hindrance although my experience and training is geared heavy towards nvestigations which I feel could help. Thanks again for the suggestions. This is a 2/3 year plan with us starting to visit places this year. Going to Maine in August but I think the intense winters will rule that out pretty quickly.
  15. Wife and I have been talking about leaving the Garden State. No idea where to but we are looking all around the country. Looking to be within an hour of a major city. Suggestions?
  16. ADA and both first round picks. Maybe....
  17. https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/possible-rangers-2020-draft-targets/ Article spells it out....more or less, with little to talk about let's take a look at where the Rangers picks could end up and the most recent draft expectations. Thoughts? I say first round should be best available forwards. Let's pick some D in the later rounds. This kid specifically interests me: 16. (16) Hendrix Lapierre (5-11, 179), C, Chicoutimi (QMJHL) ? The left-shot forward has great hockey sense, compete and playmaking qualities. He was limited to 19 games because of an upper-body injury but may have the highest ceiling of any player projected to go in the first round.
  18. I think we may see the season resume in 2 months in empty arenas with team quarantines between games.
  19. I've seen multiple comments about Rykov not doing very well this year. Any chance Miller can step in next year and make an impact after a so/so season at college? Seems to me he is hungry and wants to be here (obviously). Hope that rings true. Our right side looks pretty solid otherwise.
  20. How does this play into our D depth? Can someone layout left vs right side depth for me please?
  21. Ok, so I really dont see a world where this postponement doesnt lead to a complete cancellation. I assume the NHLPA would have to agree on how to proceed and I just dont see how it gets done. So, with the said, how do draft picks get handed out? Is it just from the standings now? To finish out this post and go along with the title, where does this team go next year? I say post rebuild but in all reality it is really tail end rebuild into the compete era. This team really came together this year and showed this core has what it takes to score and win. They need to shore up the D core and bottom 6, otherwise this team absolutely hands down can make some noise. How do you view this sudden end to the year and the opportunity for next season?
