[brooks] Rangers to Add "Muscle and Grit" for Next Season
jsm7302 replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
David Quinn is to the Rangers as Emilio Estevez is to the Mighty Ducks. -
We have so many pieces in hand to make a deal for a 2nd line center; i cant see how they don't make it happen. I did think Strome could be that piece but now I second guess that idea. Choosing the target is the hard part.

Eichel and #8 Draft Pick for Trouba, #1 Draft Pick I say yes.

But I miss the 90's, can we pretend a little longer??? Rumor has it; Sandy McCarthy and Dale Purinton may come answer the bell. Hollweg is holding out to see what Colton Orr is doing. -
No way this kid gets the C at 20 years old. To even speculate this, is outrageous imo. Let him get in here and do something before we even begin this convo.

confirmed: Alexis Lafreniere is a New York Ranger!
jsm7302 replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
In all reality, how does this guy fit into this roster? Low expectations 3rd line to start and then swap with Kreider if production dictates? Because that really sucks to have CK playing 3rd line with the contract we just gave him. How the hell do these logistics work out? -
confirmed: Rangers Buyout Final Year of Henrik Lundqvist's Contract

Eh, idk. Drury was bought out and got a front office gig. That seemed to be the right way to handle things too. What could Georgiev and ADA fetch? -

The article I read pretty much says, he has the size and tools to be a productive NHLer as opposed to Jack Hughes. The article also placed him in the class somewhere between Stamkos and Taylor Hall as far as #1 picks go. -

Georgiev is certainly odd man out and will fetch a mid round draft pick imo. His numbers were nothing that makes me think we would receieve anything celebratory unless it was a package deal. -
Seattle Expansion Draft — Who Are the Rangers Protecting?
jsm7302 posted a topic in New York Rangers
I snagged this topic from 4everRangerFrank in another thread. When is the draft? Who will be exposed? Who may not even be here at that time? Someone more informed, please give me the run down. -
This could be debated and contested till the cows come home. Thats a tough call. If the $$ is right, keep both. Otherwise, see ya. Fast is 29, his brand of hockey will create his decline very shortly. If it isn't 1-3mil for 2-3 years. Im out. Strome gets a two year offer at 3-4mil again. Yes, the chemistry is there right now but a zebra doesn't change its stripes and his career average will be back shortly. I dont think anyone will be banging his door down.

His age and type of play have "let him walk" written all over it. This is the type you can build through the system. Paying more than 1-2 mil per is a mistake.

Sounds like a plan to me.

gdt: [ECQR] (#1) Rangers @ Carolina Hurricanes // Back to Business
jsm7302 replied to Drew a Penalty's topic in New York Rangers
I've never seen so many missed, shoddy passes. It literally looked like men vs boys in the first. Wow. Better pull a rabbit out of a hat for Monday. Poor Hank didn't have a chance. Made quite a few good saves. Oof. -

Want Hank to have his swan song but more importantly, I want the COVID CUP!! It's the name on the front of the sweater that matters. Give Shesterkin game 1. If he is lights out, keep him in. If he sucks, Hank gets a shot. The man thrives on competition. Could be a great scenario either way if Shesty gets game 1.

Panarin Says Escrow Needs to be Fixed Before Players Return to Camp
jsm7302 replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
So the players gave up their last check and didnt play the final 12ish games? Now they get the same opportunity they get at the end of every season, to play for a championship and they are complaining that the escrow got skimmed off like it does every other year. Not seeing the complaint. You played less, got paid less and still have a shot at a championship. Attack the CBA Escrow rules during negotiations not when a tourney is about to start. C'mon breadman. You got paid. Save this for the off season. Call your union rep. PLAY SOME DAMN HOCKEY ALREADY! EDIT: I just reread his comment. It's not that bad, minus the report to camp part. Otherwise it was a well thought out post. -

The fact that the salary cap is 15% higher than the 50% share they are projecting to receive is the problem. The cap should be set at the projected 50% mark, period. Itll equate to lower salaries but we are talking a couple mil off a 12 mil salary. The only reason they set the cap 15% higher is to accommodate higher salaries and to me, that is dumb. Go with the more or less guaranteed monies. Projections have sucked and haven't been true anyways.
