  1. That's a digestif at my age lol
  2. Apparently I have to re-think my life. I pulled a trusty Bud Light out in a parking lot, between games at my kids spring hockey tournament a couple weeks ago. The other dads instantly pounced. They didn't know I drank "tranny fluid". I had no idea this was actually a thing, at least for more than a week. Hard to know where to go from here. Micheloeb? Same problem. Busch? Same problem. Yeungling? Can't get it, here. Miller Lite? Coors? Nope. I guess it's the seltzer life for me, now.
  3. Taylor was and is the only Canadian I have faith in to get it done. Very good pedigree, good putter. Conners is a top 30 guy but folds easy. Absolutely brutal putter. Very special moment, probably watched it 100 times. Gave up my Sunday tix to my boss, but a great hangover day. Wasn't really thrilled with Oakdale. Very mysterious Thompson track that nobody had seen. They fucked with the routing something fierce. 18 was so bad it became good, though lol
  4. If they are forced in to handing out what will almost certainly be an awful contract, it's because they'll have failed in their development of other goalies, which is almost assuredly what will happen, because this is the New York Rangers. I'd like to see him stay, he's my kids hero, but it's gotta be in the 8 mil range, and that's not gonna happen. He's gotta go, and they have to have option ready to go. In short, he'll stay for sure, and get 10.5 minimum for 8 years.
  5. 4th line C with size and modest scoring ability. Howden better skater, Goodrow better intangibles, but that gap will be closed after winning a cup
  6. Brett Howden is like Barclay Goodrow, but better and cheaper, and we got rid of him to get Barclay Goodrow.
  7. And now you got swept at home by yet another crappy team lol
  8. We flew with a 6 month old to Iceland. It wasn't too bad, and that was on the Euro equivalent of Spirit. Pete is probably correct. Driving with those who have yet to reach the age of reason is an awful experience. However, I've flown commercially about 400 times, and just understand plenty of assholes like me will be praying they aren't within 10 rows of you, plus you can't stop at Love's or Bucc-Ees.
  9. Yeah, stand 15 feet behind your wife and shout encouragement. Once on plane, apply Gravol generously.
  10. I find the product basically unwatchable. They've taken the sport and twisted it in to something I really don't even recognize. The playoffs helps the product, to a degree, but I would watch less than 2 games a year if it wasn't for the Rangers. Not really interested. I'm heavily involved in youth hockey, I support my local PJHL team... Hockey is a massive part of my life, it's really my entire existence outside of work from September to June, but the NHL? Nah.
  11. I don't drive it much, but when I do I feel like I'm getting in to a go-kart vs my F150. However, what's most important is that my wife and the kids are over the moon with it, and my gas cost vs the Armada is down about 40%. My wife is happy, and I'm golfing more as a result. So far, so good.
  12. Yeah, a new coach buys Panarin more time, and excuses, for sure. By November everyone will be lulled back to sleep, as he'll be at 1.15 ppg, and all will be well. Once April rolls around he'll get a fresh crack at figuring out playoff hockey, and he'll more than likely shit the bed again, and we'll start the cycle once more.
  13. That's important. We did a deep discount out of COVID where reg was about $100 at youngest level. All depends how our treasury is looking.
  14. It's gotta be a rink thing. We have 3 rinks for a population of about 20,000. I just rent time myself a couple times a year. Get for under $75 US/Hr at times.
  15. Doesn't matter, it's just a regurgitation of everything they heard Craig Button say. He watched the World Juniors, bro.
  16. Warning signs are there... Undersized. Not the best skater... I'm not entirely sold on the translation to the NHL. I'll just leave this here... "A gifted and versatile scoring winger with outstanding hockey sense and the ability to elevate his game when the situation calls for it, Lafreniere possesses many traits that scream elite and potential NHL superstar. From his deadly wrist shot to his superior playmaking and vision, the St. Eustache native checks every block imaginable when it comes to possessing the puck. What makes Lafreniere unique, however, is his insanely high compete level, tenacity on the puck, physicality, and selflessness. Play him on a line with equally heralded or accomplished prospects, and he’ll make it a point to tap into their strengths rather than make himself the center of attention. Lafreniere is an excellent skater in all directions, but his powerful stride allows him to separate from opponents in open ice. It’s rare to see a winger nearing 200 pounds of any age to be able to turn on the jets immediately following a physical battle, but Lafreniere’s foot speed, long stride, and expert anticipation...."
  17. On the plus side, there's always the hushed gay molestation on the side, if you get bored.
  18. Got destroyed. I coached the D. At one point I was down to two D lol. We eventually just put our best 3 players on D to try to protect our dignity. Really looking forward to this shit, though. Hank was fantastic all weekend, to the point of reaching minor celebrity status. A team from Chicago (Northbrook?) U15's even formed their own cheering section for him. He has more than a touch of dehydration today and didn't attend his 1st grade classes lol. We were completely under siege entire weekend. The Hill Academy outshot us 43-1 in a 30 min game. That's probably the best U8 team in Canada. So many great teams. 7 years old walking the blue line, switching with D partner to set up one timers and high slot tip plays. Just outrageous stuff. Hopefully Hank sticks with goalie. We shall see. Not many 5'8 goalies in the NHL, but plenty go on to lead fulfilling lives.
  19. Anyways, my 7 year old made a spring AAA team. He's a goalie (for fuck sakes, fuck you sexy Shesterkin). First tournament this weekend, and we drew 2 GTHL spring teams and The Hill Acedemy, who have been around for 15 years and have graduated 65 D1 players plus Marner and Wright lol. My guess is he won't want be a goalie anymore.
  20. My 14 yo had about 35 practices, 35 games incl playoffs, and 4 tournaments. Cost was $450 CDN including tournament fees. Also have to do 20 volunteer hours. You guys get fucked, when people say hockey isn't accessible here I just laugh, and if you can't afford the registration, just ask, someone will pay, likely the board, but nobody is left behind. My dance bill is about $1000.... A MONTH
  21. Kane started slow, but by Game 7 was really the only forward in top 9 who looked dangerous at ES. Seemed to settle better in to supporting role, rather than a leading role. The 2nd PP was so bad that it had me laughing, but that was 99% Trochek and Trouba. Trochek just needs the Hagelin treatment.
  22. Why a retread? So lazy. Just get a name. Sure. That's what the franchise is known for, I guess.
  23. I mean, who doesn't love the Staal Brothers??? Great guys. Well raised.
  24. Just want to be very clear as the coach chatter amplifys... The "system" Ruff deployed was a 1-2-2. It's not rocket surgery. Wanna get crazy? Deploy a 1-3-1. There's no secrets, here. Hockey is very basic. Gallant didn't adjust, well maybe, but he also doesn't have the personnel to chip it in and pound their D.
