  1. Exactly. When I talked to my guy, he thought he got the better player @ pick 13. That may end up not being true, but I think when you talk to the bird dogs, there are way differing opinions. I usually do 3rd party evaluations for some rep teams every year. When we compare notes we're all over the map. I have to think it's similar at the scouting level. I think the issue is in the top of the FO's. They're not gonna take a risk, particularly when the alternative also has red flags and could be a marginal improvement. In the case of Lafreniere I just see a guy that had the body of a 20 year old at age 15. Plenty of major junior 20 year olds put up massive numbers and never get past the SPHL.
  2. I never really expected a goal, let alone points against.. Belgium and Croatia. Functionally, if you have a MLS player on your roster, you're in trouble. Still way too much garbage on Canada roster.
  3. It's always good to see the 3rd CONCACAF team get a result.
  4. Fantastic. Very fresh shots. Need another season. I like Matheson's cooking. Great job bringing that stuff to forefront.
  5. Well, you're quite welcome for me saving you so much embarrassment.
  6. It is. I'm not talking rattling off points on Twitter. I'm talking actual people involved in the game of hockey.
  7. If you're going the fan route, I'd say it's fine. I bought my 6 year old a nice Matthews jersey Saturday night. He was very excited. He also asked me what icing was 16 times during the game. If you're going for the "I know what I'm talking about" route, I would not purchase a jersey. Nobody who knows what they're talking about, in hockey, owns a jersey. I can't think of anyone I know whose in hockey, whom I've ever seen in a jersey. Obviously I sound like a arrogant prick, and I am, but it's true.
  8. Ironic names are probably a better choice, if you must.
  9. Buying jerseys when you're a grown man is a bad look.
  10. Got to see him up close tonight. Like a stork, with the hands of an angel. He was truly awful, though. Despite a couple breathtaking plays, he was a human PP killer. Just brain dead decisions, one after the other. When he and Tuch were on the ice together it was really something with the size and hands. On the other hand, it's functionally a non contact league, so not sure what size matters anymore.
  11. I don't think so. He definitely has an attitude issue, from what we're hearing. That could go either way. He needs to work on harnessing that for the good.
  12. I like Kakko, and hope he excels. Here's my issue. How many Ranger scouts watched him 25-30 times that year, in person? Did any? By the time he became a thing, did they just see what they wanted to see? Did they just ride the hype train? Making the consensus pick is easy. Any of us could have did that. There were red flags with this player, had he been looked at with a skeptical eye. I'm splitting hairs a bit, because he's an obviously productive NHL player, but I'd really be interested to see the dissenting views in that FO, or others orgs opinions pre draft.
  13. I love these stories. Poindexters stating Lindy Ruff doesn't know how to coach a hockey team. Blaming him for the shortcomings of a defensive roster put together to lose, when didn't even have a thing to do with them, anyways. lol. I won't forget. Very similar to Bowness. Bob Hartley. Lifers that have poured their existence in to the game. Coached everywhere, at every level, and are told that's its actually guys that don't own skates and started watching hockey 5 years ago in Ireland that understand it, and you're a dinosaur. Just LMAO.
  14. Pretty standard affair. Flint is turning in to a tire fire. I don't think getting out of Flint is a bad thing. Was hoping he went to OS, but they never pay up for guys like this. However, even with Othmann, I don't see Peterborough as a loaded team. This seems like a bit of a stretch. Maybe they're out in R2 and he's available to help the Rangers get back to .500 for mid April.
  15. He's going to hit it at the Dome. Very special.
  16. Yeah, they do. I have a guy in this weekend doing development with U9s and U11s. I just walked out of dryland. They're fucking animals. This guy ain't coming back. lol.
  17. I just drop my 13 yo off now, and peace out for a coffee. 6 year old dresses himself and just needs his skates done. One thing I've figured out is the early morning oractices are better than the late night ones, or even mid afternoon. Not even close.
  18. It's pretty crazy how fast hockey hits. Golf is over. Summer is over. The shitshow begins.
  19. Great casting. Good acting. Mostly. Really suffered from laughably bad production quality at times, particularly in the finale. Pretty standard in 2022. Killing Floor was a good book, but Child pooched the ending. There's better offerings to pick from going forward, it's been so long since I've read them I forget their names, but there's some beauties.
  20. No shit. They all seem to drag out. Guy should have been dealt a year ago, now I'd struggle to give up a 2nd for him. Maybe they bought the hype.
  21. Fair, but they've pissed away 10 games. A couple Ws against an awful team doesn't change much.
  22. It would be hilarious if they somehow pissed the pennant away. They're trying very hard to do so. I'm pretty disgusted with the Jays, as well. At this point, I'm half cheering for the Orioles.
  23. Partly, but also an element of trying to be like others. When you're a hockey minnow like Canada, it's best to copy places like Finland, and maybe we'll win something, someday.
