[RS] (#36) Rangers vs. Carolina Hurricanes — Stale Candy Canes

What distinguished the two teams is the extra effort…the Rangers seem to rely more on their ability to quickly move the puck to get scoring chances…Carolina was forcing plays more with extra effort, often drawing penalties…the few times the Rangers pushed, they drew penalties, but didn’t adapt the PP to the pressure on the PK…need guys like Kreider to use their speed to take it hard to the net…that’s how it’s done in the playoffs…

If only they would go to the net

They repeatedly showed during the intermissions that trying to carry the puck into the O-zone especially down the middle just wasn't going to work essentially going 1 through 3. They made no adjustment, but they couldn't be bothered showing up for this one so who knows what they were being told to do to adapt. Whatever, they failed miserably all game long.

Canes executed, we blew goats.

Turn the page.

I get it, that sometimes the Rangers look ugly, but it’s getting more and more frequent. Maybe other teams figured out how to play them and some of the teams do it perfectly like tonight. Either way, forget this game and get ready for tomorrow. That not going to be easy either. Good night everyone…

Carolina just really put on a clinic. Tip your cap to them, they executed their game plan to perfection.

I'd actually have the team watch this entire game to show them how their play deteriorated into individual efforts rather than a coordinated zone entry as the game went on.

And Igor was just brutal. Glad Lavvy left him in. He didn't deserve to be spared.

When you're the #1 team in the NHL, just about every opponent is going to get up for a game against the Rangers and bring their best. And on night's when the Rangers just don't have that jump or execution, you're going to get results like this, especially against better teams like Carolina. Team just didn't have it in them tonight, move on to the next one.

you see gentlemen, the key is to start watching the games, recorded, about 90 minutes or so after puck drop...so when its fairly obvious the rangers are shitting the bed (ie. goalie and defenseman dicking around and giving up the 2 goal lead again)...you just start fucking skipping to the end.

A little Holiday hangover?  A pretty solid stinker tonight on home ice for the boys.

They were pretty much still in it, until the "walking" Canes killed that PP to start the 3rd and then buried the 4th goal.  All the air that didn't go out of us after the 3rd goal giveaway, went out of us after that one.

And here are the Top 7 nominees for tonight's “Ozzy Quote of the GDT”, sponsored by The Whoopie Cusion...only difference is, this game had "stink" to it!

Nice penalty kill by the rangers there.

Krieder had the best view of that shot, just standing around…

You think Valiquette wears Hanks perfume? He probably has a good appreciation for how long it takes to develop a fragrance.

Bonino so slow he makes Wheeler look like Bure.

Lindgren chirping at Lemieux because he really needs an endorphin hit and nobody is hitting him this game.

What team is Lias Andersson on in the PWHL?

A seriously frustrating game tonight.  We couldn't even hold a pass, but these games are the ones we need to have during the season.  This game was very reminiscent of what Carolina did to NJ last season in the playoffs.  We need to learn how to beat teams that pull this shit, where they give you no time and space, and clog up the Neutral zone.

...and the winning quote for tonight’s GDT goes to The Dude man!  @The Dude...Those chicks skate better, shoot harder, and hit with more force than that pansy!  Lias is probably at a puck shoot in Sweden cleaning the ice with the Zamboni!

The way too soft Rangers got out work, out hustled, out played at home and I guess are OK with the knee to knee hit Aho hurt Fox with last game since they did nothing about it, as usual.  They have the talent to win a cup, but not the fire in the belly or the balls.
