As @Kevin pointed out in the GDT, he can't keep up with Zib and Kreider and that's exactly why he took penalties. I'm gonna give Wheels a few more games to get adjusted...I know, that's not a popular thought, but I say at least Christmas before we go doing anything with him. We're 8-0-1 in this stretch, so he's not killing us.....yet. Hang tight a little longer and let's see what's up. I'm confident Othmann may not be NHL ready but if they are trying to find an NHL top 6 forward, Othmann has a much better chance to fill that role than Wheeler. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It's got to be a tough situation for Laviolette. He probably has all the respect in the world for a vet like Blake Wheeler.
