The Rangers would have somebody to fill his PP/PK slots if he was no longer available and he's not a particularly good 5v5 guy at this point. Maybe #9/#10 overall. I realize that this may not be a particularly popular point of view but we're 13 games in and he has 2 5v5 goals. His linemates have 2 5v5 goals between them. Leads the team in goals with 9 and 2nd in points with 12. There's no one that would do his job at the PP even remotely as good as him and who would take his shifts on the PK? Kreider should be #2 behind Panarin only. Shesterkin at #2 with 2.36 AAV and .913 save% is what's wrong with the list atm (and Kakko as high as #12). Just saying that Kreider was the main man when the refs were blowing the whistle against the Devils and he disappeared like the rest of the Rangers when they weren't. The Rangers have to be the only good team in the NHL where line 1 is so-so at even strength and killer on the power play. For bad teams it doesn't matter because they never get to the stage of the season where the refs just swallow the whistle most of the time.
