Not easy to get the canes to play that poorly, for that long.
but the rangers had several chances in the 3rd, which is still a good sign … I guess.

more pucks on net.  Need to be hungry out there, and they didn’t have that tonight.

This is it…exactly. If anyone thinks the Canes are coming out in G2 playing like they did the first 40….good luck with that. This was abnormal for them, and it was abnormal for the Rangers to move the puck that cleanly the first 40.

The Rangers will need to score 5+ goals to have a chance to win the next one.

Yeah, they’re fucked IMO. Canes looked like a team in their first playoff game at home in a decade. Rangers blew it badly.

The Rangers were hard pressed to take 4 of 7 going in. They aren’t taking 4 of 6. This was the one that would have made a series win possible.

Either of the first two will make the difference. We handed them this game, so we have one more chance to make this a series.

We NEED to stop the shell game in the 3rd. If we play the 3rd like we played the first two periods, we win.

On top of that, put the puck in the damn net. Kakko had a wide open net and so did Chytil. We cannot keep missing golden opportunities and still expect to win.

It’s just too bad they didn’t cash in at least one of the really golden opportunities they had.  You can play the kind of D at all costs road third period they did with a 2 goal lead but doing it with just one is dicing with death.

The thing is, Canes was so brutal in the first 40 minutes, so anything "positive" to take from this game is mostly based on Canes playing horrible. That won't be the trend in this series. We needed to steal an away game and this was it. Can't afford to lose games like these as the underdog, just can't.

And for the love of god please bench Panarin the last minutes of a game if we have the lead. The guy refuses to back-check. Just look at his lazy ass on the game-tying goal. He could've hustled to stop the pass going to Aho, but he didn't give a fuck.

Why not give the rRangers credit for forcing bad Canes play?

  • Applause 2

Damn how could you be so right before the game and so wrong after? 😉

That’s what I saw.  Rangers were on the puck and then on the Canes the instant they touched it.  I do think they played not to lose in the third and that cost them.  You can’t chase a team around the rink for 20 minutes protecting just a one goal lead.  You have to find a way to dictate play for at least some of the time, even it’s just to give yourselves a breather.

Plenty of bright spots. The big bad canes are beatable. We played excellent defensive hockey for about 57 minutes. Kakko should’ve iced it too but he played great. So did that whole like. They’re very much in this series

Watched this in a beach bar in the Bahamas with no sound(and karoake, some good, some..well), and many Coronas.

Raanta was really good, but not tested enough. Need more offensively. Igor was great. Cannot much fault him on either goal.

Need more offensively. This is a recording. Again. Forever.

This is gonna be a long series no matter what. Could've stolen a game but Rangers. Not in their DNA to do the easy thing, why should this series be any different?

Something institutionally wrong with the rangers. No matter the coach or line up they just never play a full 60 mins. Obviously momentum ebbs and flows in games but it’s almost a guarantee the rangers don’t show up for at least one period.

Or maybe Rangers fans need to realize it's the NHL and rarely does one team dominate wire to wire over 60 mins x 82 games + post season.

Lafreniere and Miller.

those guys were awesome

Along with Chytil and Lindgren.  I thought Trouba didn't suck as much as he had been.  Rest of them were pretty invisible, I know Zib had a shot or two, Kreider? Copp? Panarin?  All kinda MIA.
