Phil Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 Another young goaltender potentially available: Alexandar Georgiev. Teams who have inquired with new Rangers GM Chris Drury believe the ask to be a first-round pick as part of any trade opportunity on Georgiev, who will still be under team control as an RFA once the final year of his deal ($2.425 million) expires next summer. There is no urgency or rush for the Rangers. It’s a luxury move for Drury as Igor Shesterkin is exempt from the Expansion Draft. https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/seravalli-ice-breakers-darcy-kuemper-emerges-as-leafs-avalanche-primary-target/
CBrowningPI Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 He's still pretty young as far as goalies go. We've seen brilliance and utter failure with Georgiev. He's definitely worth keeping around till he isn't.

Dunny Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 Best I can do is a 5th in 2024 and tickets to the Toronto Pride Festival. 2
jsm7302 Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 "OK, Chris. Good luck in the new role! If you change your mind, I still have the $100 Outback gift card available with our 3rd rounder!"
The Dude Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Ridiculous. There's no way. If that's the case, the Rangers are not making any moves because our GM would have zero clue about the worth of his players.
Drew a Penalty Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Might he be unprotected? For what purpose? Why lose him for nothing?
ThirtyONE Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Might he be unprotected? Honestly, they should hope for him to be taken. 2m savings and have Keith backing is more appealing than the mess that happened last season.
ThirtyONE Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 For what purpose? Why lose him for nothing? Gain cap space. What's he realistically worth? Certainly not a 1st. Maybe a 2nd or 3rd?
Drew a Penalty Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Gain cap space. What's he realistically worth? Certainly not a 1st. Maybe a 2nd or 3rd? Gain cap space? They have nearly $23M. I wouldn't defer a 2nd or 3rd rounder for an extra $2.5M when it's not needed.
LindG1000 Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Man, you people are harsh. Why do we need to move Georgiev? He's an RFA after next season who probably won't get a raise. If someone wants to overpay us for cost certainty in net for the duration of the flat cap, great. Else, also great.
Dunny Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 We need to move him because if he's here, they'll play him, and he fucking blows. As others said, I'd rather just use Kincaid, who also blows, and invest the 1.5 million elsewhere. 1

As others said, I'd rather just use Kincaid, who also blows, and invest the 1.5 million elsewhere. Assuming Igor is healthy, we will need about 22-25 starts from Kincaid or somebody else, and Kincaid wasn't any worse than Georgiev spare the Isle games.
Sod16 Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Not tradeable before the expansion draft. I don't think a 1st after the draft is realistic. There are always a lot of passable No. 2s on the market, and he is a bit pricey as No. 2s go. He's not coming off a good year. A decent prospect or a 3d rounder is more realistic. But the approach would seem to be not to trade him unless its a better offer than you might expect. That's fine.
Dunny Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Toronto does. They went through a list of potentials on The Fan yesterday, and didn't even mention Georgiev. A year ago they were on the verge of dealing Nylander for him lol.
