If he’s not playing injured, the market for him absolutely needs to be explored.

There’s a host of reasons this will not happen. Nor should it.
But you only need 1 reason not to, which goes no farther than they simply can’t hope to replace his production and more importantly the presence a player of his caliber has in your lineup.

What presence?  He’s been brutal and easily defended.  Maybe he’s hurt?  Maybe this is who he is?

Other teams still have to account for him, assign top players to defend him, and treat him like the all the time threat he is.

Again, it's a tough call, but for some reason making the big, earth shattering, deal doesn't seem to happen, anymore.

If this is who he is (and I don't personally think he's hurt, or very hurt, he just skated in an optional) then it should absolutely be explored. This type of stuff used to happen all the time. Mike Gartner scored 173 goals in 4 seasons, here, and was dealt because they didn't think he was a playoff guy. What happened next?

He's been absolutely atrocious, and functionally a PP specialist, only.

It would be an extremely sticky situation to move him, and it won't happen, because it would also take massive balls to do so, but why should this guy get a free ride in the playoffs? Second highest paid player in the NHL and I've pretty much just accepted he's not going to do anything 5v5. Oh well. November leg kicks and shit. All the feels. The cute soundbytes. Just help out when you feel like it, I guess.

Funny that the guy they traded Gartner for had a pretty Panarin like playoff in 94.

Also the GM and Coach who wanted him gone we're a mixture of hated adding competent and really did nothing after winning that cup... So there's that.

He did, but unlike Panarin, Anderson wasn't necessarily there to put up points.

I know you love baseball analogies. In 1990 the Jays traded Fred McGriff and Tony Fernandez for Joe Carter and Robbie Alomar. A completely shocking trade for a team unable to get over the hump. The rest, as they say, is history.

There's virtually zero chance Panarin is going anywhere at this point, but should he lay an egg in next year's playoffs, the questions are going to start getting a little more pointed.

I’m very hard on Panarin for large parts of this year and I personally think his play this playoffs justifies my worries. It’s been in the making for the whole year. I partly think this might be in part to Gallant being a hands off players coach at times. I’ll be damned if I pretend to know more than him though lol

However, he’s still not going anywhere and I’m not sure he should right now. You still need to get to the postseason. He gets you that at minimum. There is also the Marian Gaborik scenario which I’d rather not repeat. I do think Panarin will figure it out eventually. Might not be this year but it will be eventually.

That line needs a bull on it and Copp isn't it. Maybe you get Copp at C and move on from Strome, but that RW needs to give the other 2 some breathing room.

Been wanting to see Motte there. He gives that 4th line much needed speed though.

I hear what you're saying, but I saw all I needed to see from him on the third line to know he needs to be on the fourth line.
