:tweet: @IrishThrones: *SPOILERS Season 6* CLOSE SOURCES Jon Snow is the son of Rhaegar and Alyana

Holy shit. This was also picked up by Watchers on the Wall and Nerdist.

Obviously they meant Lyanna, not Alyana.

So, Littlefinger vs. Boltons vs. Lady Stoneheart maybe?

This means I night have to alter my Littlefinger taking control of everything north of the Trident theory.

Now, listen, I know we’re all a little tired of hearing theories that promise the appearance of Lady Stoneheart. (More on that in a bit.) But a casting call for someone who appears to be the son of Red Wedding mastermind Walder Frey lends a little more credibility to the return of both the Brotherhood and Lady S. Walder Frey actor David Bradley has already confirmed his return and the new character is described as follows:

This is a very good part in this season who appears in three episodes. We need a characterful-looking guy – long nose and skeletal features and perhaps a bit sly – to play a son who is unable to live up to the demands of his savage father. We need a really good actor for this part – he has good scenes with lots of the leading cast. The character has a great storyline. There are no options and this is a one-off opportunity for a good clever actor to come and make his mark on this major hit show.

“No options,” by the way, is code for, “this guy is going to die.” As many have noted, this comes pretty close to fitting the description of book character Merrett Frey. Merrett, son of Walder, meets the business end of a noose after a run-in with Lady Stoneheart and the Brotherhood at the end of book three.

Further backing to the Lady Stoneheart theory, they are likely casting Merrett Frey.

Major spoilers are coming out of Game of Thrones? Northern Ireland filming base this week (Spain production has now wrapped), where the battle at Saintfield/the battle of six armies/the battle of the bastards/Snow Bowl/whatever you want to call it, is being staged.

It?s set to be one of the most exciting scenes in season 6, possibly pitting Roose Bolton?s merciless bastard Ramsay against Ned Stark?s (potential) bastard and newly-resurrected Jon Snow.

What?s more, Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) has been spotted on set, suggesting Jon might get to rescue his sister.

Ramsay Bolton was apparently seen displaying two bodies upside down on X-crosses (the Bolton sigil) during the battle, the corpses of known characters.

Its already a pretty popular theory that Bran was the one who talked to Aerys and drove him crazy about fire, in an attempt to get him to fight the White Walkers with fire. In the originally trailer for this season there is a quick shot of a silhouette that looks very much like Jaime stabbing someone in a throne room...

Bran being the voices that the Mad King heard would make sense, but it would be so much better if Bran weren't the Great Time Traveling Fuck Up.

The latter. Time travel like this always invokes the self-existence erasing paradox. What level of changing the past would change enough dominoes to erase his own existence?

I don't think that would be possible, though. If anything base on Bran's ability to affect the past, if we can even call it that, is a closed loop that's pretty much predetermined. Hodor was the way he is because Bran inevitably had to make the mistake that would lead to "Hold the door." He can't undo or fix anything that was meant to happen, he's just the reason that it happens.

I would just hope that he doesn't become the accidental creator of everything wrong with the world. It would be better to know that Bran can learn from the past and be useful as opposed to the destined bumblefuck he is now.

So he just sees events that would have occurred regardless? How is that "influencing"?

For example, the Tower of Joy scene -- him shouting to his father happened irrespective of whether he goes back to see himself or experience himself doing so? If yes, he's not actually altering anything.

So does he influence the past, and change it by definition, albeit briefly, or does he simply witness events that already occurred that he cannot change?
