I see your point and I agree.. Although Larry Brooks has been writing for the New York Post for years he’s been wrong on a lot of his write ups. Particularly last year when he paraded about signing Patrick Kane. He was a huge advocate of getting him to the Rangers and look what happened.
It will be interesting come trade deadline to see what the Rangers will do.

Brooks might be wrong from time to time, but what separates him from average Joes is that he actually has connections. He has access to the locker room, the organization, to a number of industry professionals that you don't have access to if you're not already within that sphere. I can rattle off a number of things Brooks has been wrong on, but I could also list a lot of things he's been bang on about. The nature of his relationship with the organization as an accredited member of the media is the difference between him and any guy on Twitter who ends up writing for the Hockey Writers.

Writing for the Hockey Writers doesn't mean you don't know anything, unless you're @Phil, but it does mean you're more than likely operating with the same information that the greater public is. No one within the industry has connected Laine to the Rangers of late, the Rangers do not have a cap situation that permits them to easily trade for Laine, and Barclay Goodrow has a 15-team No Trade Clause which would almost certainly see him waiving any trade to Columbus. Columbus would ask for far more than Goodrow.

There's nothing wrong with thinking that Laine is someone who the Rangers should pursue, however, it's not a realistic scenario that is supported by any information out there.

It’s not a Facebook post. It’s a written article from a legitimate hockey organization.

There are posters on this site who’ve written for the Hockey Writers. It’s a blog not an organization. It’s not at all akin to reading from Brooks or Mercogliano who are actually plugged in and have team sources. Anyone on the Hockey Writers has as much team access as any of us.

These call-ups make no sense. Call up Edstrom for no reason, and now Blidh? Why not Enstrom LOL?

Total speculation on my part, but if these guys who are called up are actually coming to NYC, it could be just to give them a taste of the pro game and make them hungrier?

Edstrom is sick. He was out for Hartford the last two nights.

Nothing about his game ever made me think he had a place on an NHL roster. Then you add in his size, it's pretty remarkable he's even in the AHL, imo.

He's also just at the bottom of a depth chart of guys who are on the small side and play a similar style/role. Sykora, Berard, and Henriksson are all better, and Korczak might be getting there too. Sykora is the biggest of the group at 5'11" 192 lbs while Trivigno is the smallest at 5'7" 167 lbs.

Othmann + Sykora = Rat Unit

He's relentless and physical but I haven't seen rat out of Sykora yet. He's more annoying because he's always in the play and less because he's purposefully trying to agitate. Maybe that'll come as he gets more comfortable. He looks more like a defensive specialist who could also be a Lady Byng contender — he doesn't take penalties.

  6. Pack won 7-3 tonight. Big games from the kids. Sykora with 2G + 2A, Korczak with 1G 2A, Othmann with 1G 1A.

I haven't tuned in since the season opener, so I can't comment on his game, but it's been a slow start for Othmann. After coming out hot, he's at 2-7-9 in 15 games. 7 of his 9 points are on the PP and only 4 of his points are primary. Othmann leads Hartford with 48 shots on goal, though, and is shooting just 4.2% so it could be that he just hasn't found his shot yet. Hopefully, he starts to assert himself a bit more in the coming weeks.

Since I made this post he's played 4 games and has 4 goals, 2 assists, and 19 shots in that span. He scored a really nice goal on the PP tonight where he stepped into the slot and roofed it. You can tell that he's starting to get a feel for his shot.

Sykora is heating up too. He has 9 points in his last 10 games. He's the youngest player in the AHL so it's awesome to see him thriving. He was playing top PK tonight and 2nd PP unit. He always lives up to his billing as an absolute pain in the ass. He's gonna be such a fan favorite with how he's been getting the Hartford crowd going.

I also wonder if this is a breakout game for Korczak. He looks pretty tenacious and has a good stick. It would be nice to have a center prospect show some talent. I'm not expecting too much from him, but it'd be nice after he struggled to stick last year and went back to junior.

    John Tortorella.

Just remember that there was a time where we had Henrik, Rick Nash, Mats Zuccarello, Marian Gaborik, Ryan McDonagh, Marc Staal, Ryan Callahan, Dan Girardi, JT Miller, and Chris Kreider on the same team and he couldn't figure that out.

Gaborik and Zuccarello didn't overlap that year, Kreider was a rookie in the playoffs, and Miller was drafted in 2011 and not a regular until 2015. Torts lost the room, but that team suffered from a complete lack of depth, leading to the Gaborik trade.

Heading to Nashville for the game tomorrow. Wondering if there’s any bars that other people going are going to be meeting up at

I don't know if anyone here is going to be at the game, but your best bet would be any of the honky-tonks on Broadway. All of the action is there.

All worth it for the Roofjob on Price, i dont care what else happened.

me and a friend of mine would always get into Tanner Glass battles. I didnt mind him. He wasnt good, but at the end of the day if he was your biggest problem, it couldnt have been all that bad

The Rangers had the best fourth line in the league for years until Glass started stinking it up. He's not the worst, but he was total dead weight.

I wonder hoe much freedom thr league gives these teams in tjebfirstp lace when it comes to new design jerseys.

I loved that 85th year jersey back in the day. My favorite one.

Other teams have had good alternates in the last few years. This isn't a league issue. This is a Rangers problem.

Let's see what they vomit out for the Stadium Series.
