No excuses.  If the Rangers play to their capabilities it doesn't matter what the Caps do, the Rangers will win.  The only way this becomes a series is if the Rangers coast and don't work.

Have a healthy, nervous feeling.  I agree with fletch, we play to our strengths and potential and this first one will go our way.   Teams and tending will rule the day.

No slow starts.  Jump on them early.  Keep the foot to the pedal and don’t give them any life or hope and it should be a short series.  Start games like they did late in the season and this will be a long grueling series.

I’d like to see Rempe this game. Play hard, fast, and physical right from puck drop. Battering ram. Tactics can wait to game 2. Overwhelm this team game 1 and show them this is not going to be a repeat of last year. 
 

Washington plays an overly defensive style and the way to beat that is to punish them every shift on the backend.

And they’re slow. Like, very slow. Get pucks in deep, beat them to it and create. The Rangers are going to have a lot of offensive zone time. Their speed is going to be a lot, maybe too much, for the Capitals to handle. Especially the transition game we have. It’s just a matter of us burying our chances, really.

 

Lindgren has been hot. But he’s not Martin Brodeur. This is a guy who was an okay backup most of his career and is playing his first career playoff game. Have to overwhelm him all game and all series.
