[RS] (#76) Rangers vs New Jersey Devils — The Rempire Will Be Defeated by Ewoks

Rangers look like they were hoping to skate to a Win based on skill alone. The attention to detail and Xs and Os has been severely lacking tonight ugh.

But good thing is they're within one and can still win this with a strong clean 3rd.

A frequent issue w this team. Most of the inferior teams have 4 on the blue line when Rangers are on the rush. PLEASE stop trying to carry it in. Dump n chase/forecheck. Especially since they are down to 4 D and the second of back to backs. Punish the shit out of them.

The 2nd period was uglier than the first. The Devils speed took over most of the period and scored three times. It’s a good thing that they played yesterday, right?

What are you talking about their speed took over?  Their goals were all defensive breakdowns

Not sure why everyone got game misconducts to start the game but holy shit

Because they started fighting after the initial fight broke out. Not sure when they made up that stupid rule but that's the deal

Especially when you know the context.  Devils should have ended up more depleted than the Rangers personnel-wise.  But Rangers should have been smarter, not dropping the gloves when Devils dropped theirs.  But I guess they figured backing Rempe was more important and maybe they’re right.

I still don’t understand it

NHL Rule 46.7 states: “A game misconduct penalty shall be imposed on any player who is assessed a major penalty for fighting after the original altercation has started.”  The first fight was Vesey vs. Lazar.  All of the other fights occurred after the original.

Maloney had to have suffered an aneurysm or three that period.  After the last one he said "this team won't last 2 games in the first 7 game series".  "What the heck was Kreider thinking there?, just dumb, dumb, dumb"  "Pass to nowhere, and why" "Just get it deep so what if it's offsides".

Used every adjective in the book to describe the play, says it's way bigger than this game and habits bring results and this ain't the results they're looking for.  Say's "great they've played well this season most of the time but there are signs of last season that have been creeping in."  "The plays they're attempting to make will never work in the playoffs when there's no free ice"

Hope he's ok, and hoping Sam can pass him his flask sooner rather than later.

Don't listen to many (any) games on the radio so my first experience with such honesty, rather than the ball lathering that comes on the tv broadcast.

Will watch the game later but shit ain't expecting much.

The Rangers should have backed away and let the Devils take the penalties. Not sure how the Vesey fight started first given that everyone was watching Rempe so closely.

I haven’t had booze in almost 2 years, after that period I’m ready for a flask pass too.
