QUOTE(S) TO NOTE:

"I think the guys talked about [how] it wasn’t what we were looking for the other night, we were all disappointed by it. From there, you look for a response and it was a really, really strong response. It’s a good way to start the road trip. A lot of work to do here on the trip, but it’s nice to get that first one"

For the record, it's appalling to only have one game tonight. 2 yesterday, 1 tonight. I get that they don't want to compete with the NFL, but come the fuck on. 3 NHL games in 2 days at the beginning of the season is just bad.

I also get that Tuesdays and Thursdays are the NHL's shit, but whatever. I'm ranting.

The NBA season opens tomorrow night so they're just competing against that now.

I got halfway through making the fucking thing before I realized it was for tomorrow.

Classic!!!

I'll roll with "It's early yet and we're still going to have some hiccups!"  ...works for the Rangers!!  ...why not us too???  😉

I'm with you. I get the wanting to test the Frozen Frenzy idea, but you don't need 16 games for it. Would have been far better to schedule some back-to-backs or home-and-homes, especially for the east coast teams where travel is minimal.

I say just leave 'em be.  Not everyone is going to gel right away.  I say 10 more games at least, before anything gets changed.  I like what Lavvy has going right now.

I also like him rewarding players that are on fire.  We haven't seen that in quite a long time!  Feels good to have a real coach!  Yeah just leave the shit alone and let it grow.  I think it's way too soon to pass judgement on these combos.

By expected goals Trochek's line is #3 in the league & Zibanejad's #6 so far.   Not that you would think that watching the games.

Both of these lines are well ahead in xGF% than the Panarin-Chytil-Lafreniere line, but the "eye test" indicates the Panarin line is the team's best line. It's probably just a matter of that line being the flashiest offensively by a country mile, though they give up more defensively.

xGF/xGA per 60

Zibanejad line: 2.94/1.32

Panarin line: 3.82/3.34

Trocheck line: 2.74/1.28

I'd like to see the Zibanejad line generate some more chances, but the xGA is phenomenal. All 3 guys on that line are quality backcheckers.

From what I've been seeing, Zibby's line gets the chances, they just aren't hitting the net.  And how many twigs has Zibby snapped on a few of his chances already?  My count is at 5!  LOL

I like the balance of the lines so far.  I think it's going to get a lot better as we play more games and get adjusted to the forecheck and defensive coverage structure.

Agreed, liking the lines and the fact that Lavi isn't throwing them into a blender every period like GG was fond of. Give them time to develope chemistry.

Coming off a complete performance against a quality Kraken team? Check.

Several days rest in between games? Check.

Game against an inferior opponent? Check.

All the makings of a trap game? Check.

5-2 Flames.

Still waiting for Kreider to win one battle along the boards.  Once that happens, the Zibby line will start scoring
