Neither Zegras or Drysdale are listed on the Ducks' training camp roster. Neither has signed an extension yet. Zegras and the Ducks have agreed to a 3-year bridge deal, but can't align on AAV. This coming from a team that gave Alex Killorn $25M over 4 years and has over $16M in cap space.

This has nothing to do with it, they have to worry about how it sets up his next deal. They don't want to be in DeBrincat territory where a QO can be absurd.

If he's one of your future stars, why not sign him long term anyway? 22 years old. 8 year deal seals him through the entirety of his prime.

The only reason a bridge deal makes sense is to get him for 11 years total and takes him to 33. But even if he gets $6mil per season for the next three, he's likely going to get $8-9M per season in his long term deal. A QO after the $6M deal doesn't destroy that possibility.

Apparently neither side wants to go long terms. Maybe he wants to see if they stay a losing team.

Bedard needs to fill out physically, he looks a little slow and weak, but his impact on the ice is tremendous. He does 1OA stuff - no doubt about that. Several nifty plays, and whenever he's got the puck and entering the OZ or in the OZ, the puck seems to just find a way to a higher danger area.

Hawks 3 min from spoiling the Pens home opener.

Meh he looks like Lafreniere did first season - a little less physically ready but a little more hockey ready. Couple nice passes but largely not a huge factor in this game. Like all the kids who come into the league he will need time.

I just think we have these insane expectations for kids. They're kids. 18 years old. How many y'all interacted with anyone 21, 22, 23 lately? They're children, they're not men. Connor McDavid is an absolute freakshow of a human being and is not a normal or valid point of comparison.

On the more positive side, I love watching Bedard shoot the puck, he's got a really wicked release.

The kid will have a real impact on  alot of their games if his body can hold up physically. He's definitely not shy about taking the puck to the dirty areas and he's rather noticeable almost every time he's on the ice.

He definitely didn't look slow, but he's got the body of an 18 year old.

He's got insane dedication to his workouts, so it's a matter of biology at this point.

I wouldn't say he looked like Lafreneire, at all, LOL. Assist, 5 shots, highly visible when he was on the ice. Good debut for him.
