You might be able to find good examples to support your case, but I don’t agree that this is one of them. The defender was taking the pass away and letting Tro have a wide open lane to net 1 on 1 with goalie. If he tried to force a pass there and it gets deflected or blocked, he’s getting cruicifed for passing up a very high danger shot 3 feet from the net. It's not just the shot missing the net. It's the choice to shoot over Panarin who is obviously hot, it's the shot selection not going far side pads, it's not giving the puck up earlier in the sequence to a more open Panarin.
