Keirik Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 Through 17 games last year he had 17gp 4g 8a 12p Through those first 17 games last year it looks like his average TOI was 19.44 It actually looks like he’s doing more with less time this year. https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/b/buchnpa01/gamelog/2021
Karan Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 He had a slow start, probably still adjusting. The suspension didn't help either. But he's been quite productive lately and starting to heat up.
Zuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuc Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 To be fair, 11p in 17 games is 0.65 ppg, not really close to a point pr game. That said, I love Buch and I wish there was a way to keep him. Glad to see he's fitting in nicely with his new team too.
Pete Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 He's on pace for 53 points. I know math is hard but the phone does it for you JFC. 1
josh Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 He’s got 8pts in his last 7 games or something like that.
Vodka Drunkenski Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 (edited) Maybe we can just enjoy watching this team grow for a change instead of being hell bent over former players Edited November 27, 2021 by Vodka Drunkenski 4
Cash or Czech Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 How is 11 points in 17 games a point/game pace? 11 =/= 17. You doing fancy math over there?

Ozzy Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 Can't make a cake with one ingredient. I wish the Buch man well, and hope he has a great career, but we need guys that can last through a playoff grind, and he doesn't strike me as THAT type of guy. I may be wrong, but I'll take a few players like Hunt, Blais, Goodrow and Reaves to stir into the mix. If history is any teacher at all, those Matteau/Noonan/Kypreos/Kocur guys have their place on a playoff roster.... a successful playoff team's roster.
LindG1000 Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 Only stat I care about. Almost as if all the changes we made in the offseason appear to be working at the quarter pole of the season. 2 4

ThirtyONE Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 I'm not gonna cry about any of the players we lost over the last three years when the team is the best they've been since 2016. 1 1 2 1

Pretty spot on. Shoulda, coulda, woulda doesn’t apply anymore. What we “shoulda” be is enjoying our team being relevant and in a great spot early into the season.

Not sure I'm as sold on the team as you are, but agree with the sentiment of "who cares who's not here". Players getting paid contracts we couldn't afford here, players excelling in roles they wouldn't be in here, none of it matters because it was never gonna happen here.
Dunny Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 (edited) But we're sitting on 7 million in cap space, so they essentially shuffled the deck chairs, and ended up short an important chair. That's the bulk of the argument. People understand players leave, they've pretty much moved every player I actually liked over the past 10 months, it's the ROI that his the issue. It's actually so bad that I can't even get that angry because it makes me laugh every time I think about it. It's hilarious. Edited November 27, 2021 by Dunny 1

This thread was an attempt at some kind of "told you so" until math got in the way.

In theory I get what you are saying, but the Buch part just doesn’t fly here. I’d honestly rather have the cap space and be where we are right now than be up against the cap with no flexibility. We have space to bring on a rental (Reilly smith) or a replacement JT Miller’) that would also deepen us for this year before we inevitably lose Strome. This upcoming offseason. At best you were going to arb with him and losing him after this year anyway. Unless I’m forgetting that he didn’t have arb rights. Point doesn’t really change regardless because his cap implications going past this season. 1

Keirik Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 I took it as he meant last year was a fluke, no? Even though last year and this year have damn close stats through 17
Phil Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 No, last year was the anomaly. The career year in a walk year. Happens all the time. He's a 50-point player. Which is exactly what he's trending right now. And 17 games is a small sample size. Kreider is on pace for nearly 65 goals. Think he'll get there, too?
Mess11 Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 (edited) Tarasenko is getting most of the feeds on the line. Scheen isn't doing much on first line with O'Reilly. Don't watch them play much, seems like a no Brainer to switch em. Edited November 28, 2021 by Mess11
