LindG1000
Who the fuck was giving Goodrow 6 years? Good dude and a valuable player but come on, really?
Phil
He's 28. Six years takes him to 34. It's fine, especially if the AAV is like $2.5 million.
Lord Al
The Tampa Bay Lightning traded Barclay Goodrow to the New York Rangers in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, the team announced Saturday. Goodrow is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 28. Goodrow is a valuable piece, no doubt, but he's almost never going to justify the contract if it cracks any higher than 2.5. He's probably good for 15-25 points max; how much of a premium can you really put on grit?

Plenty when you're utterly bereft of this type of player and expect to turn a payoffs corner as early as next season. He'll make his money there, anyway. ThirtyONE
So assuming they sign him, where does he fit in the lineup?
BrooksBurner
Passed up Fast at 3x2.5 last year to possibly give Goodrow something like 6x3? That's a bit rough.

josh
So assuming they sign him, where does he fit in the lineup? I cant see him wanting to be a 4th liner. I think that might be a sticking point in negotiations.
Phil
He's a third line player and a top penalty-killer. Might spell doom for Buchnevich. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro I'm thinking there's not open spots just yet, so this likely means the end for someone (again, assuming he's signed). ThirtyONE
Tampa literally can't afford him. Vince Mercogliano says: They do fully intend to sign Goodrow, with another source suggesting the Rangers made the trade with a strong indication they would be able to come to terms before the opening of free agency Evolving Hockey projects his next contract for four years at an average annual value of $3.15 million https://www.lohud.com/story/sports/nhl/rangers/2021/07/17/ny-rangers-trade-gritty-forward-barclay-goodrow/7993203002/
