give me an example of goalies with similar cap with similar situation.

Pekka Rinne, Fleury, eventually Bobvovsky, technically Luongo is still under a teams cap, Corey Schneider.

If you want positional players then Subban, Skinner, Getzlaf, Ryan, Kesler to name a few. Some to more degree than others.

That bobrovsky contract is already brutal and he has 6 years left.

Fleury played 49 games, so not really a backup, but yeah he might be a backup next year if he does not pick up his game but good thing he shot those commercials for iPhone his teammates must be thrilled with that.

Rinne played 36 games that checks off, but his cap hit is only 5 mil

Luongo was a shame, but they knew what they were getting themselves into when they traded for him, his contract length was insane, he also had some injuries and the cap hit was only 5.33 mil, and in the last year he played 43 games so technically he was the starter. and season prior to that he would have been a starter as well if not for injuries.

Bobrovsky had a bad season he played 50 games, so technically a starter. He will likely rebound next season.

So really only Rinne was in similar situation but there is a tremendous difference between 5 mil cap and 8.5.

You’re not going to find exact numbers, but any cap hit of 5m+ is a pretty significant cap hit especially in the goaltending position.

Also Henrik played 30 games as well. There isn’t much difference betweeen 30 and 36 games. Also, you left out Schneider who played a whopping 13 games for 6m.

Also, how is it different to say the Panthers knew what they were getting when they traded for Luongo, but the Rangers didn’t when they are the ones to give Henrik his contract? You can’t have it both ways. The point is, there are other teams with similar issues. It’s just part of life in a cap world. One more year. The Blackhawks just finally got out of a 6m cap hit of Crawford when prior to this past season he played 28 and 38 games the last two years.

Also, starter or not, Bob has a 10m cap hit and an atrocious season in his FIRST year of a 7 year deal that goes until he is 37. You don’t think the tail end of that contract is going to be crippling?

How sbout Seabrook in Chicago? Guy has nearly a 7m cap hit until he’s 39 and he had 4 points this year. Plenty of teams have one or two contracts that are cringe worthy. It’s just the nature of the beast.

Good points, but Schneider went to AHL, would Lundqvist accept AHL assignment and a chance to bring the Championship to Hartford Wolfpack? Nah I rather have Wall and Huska play.

Fine if Lundqvist does not retire and no trade is available, just buy him out and move on.

Also Schneider's team has lowest cap in NHL so his cap hit doesn't really hurt them.

You are probably, literally, the only person who cares that athletes do endorsements. I assure you, the guys on his team do not give a shit.
