QUOTE(S) TO NOTE:

[table=width: 630, align: center]

[tr]

[td=align: center]

?I obviously remember being in that building with a lot on the line a few years ago and it did not go the way we wanted,? Lundqvist said after the team?s final practice of the season up in Westchester on Friday. ?For us who were there, I think going into [saturday], we want to play a really strong game, for ourselves and also for that reason. That got a big win at a crucial time that time. We?re going to play a desperate and a really good team [saturday].?

I've found it kind of impossible during this tank to actually root against the Rangers. I know we're supposed to try and have the highest pick possible but damn I just want to see them beat the Flyers. It'd feel really good to possibly take them out of the playoffs

I don't think of it as rooting against the rangers. I think of it as rooting for long term success rather than short term (1 game that means nothing). Beating the flyers hurts the Rangers long term and if the Panthers lose, it's useless.

Establishing a losing mentality hurts them more, long term, than .5% helps them in the draft lottery

It's not really about the .5% to win the lottery. That's unlikely no matter what place they finish. Top 3 odds are improved -- which would be massive -- but if not, trading up from 7th/8th is easier than 10th if they want to. It allows for greater flexibility and ultimately a better player/pick.

is it really that important even if it means getting a potential game changer in the draft? Yes we all hate the flyers but in this case there is actually a beneficial reason to losing

"Establishing a losing mentality". Hilarious. Because strategically losing what would amount to about two dozen forgettable games in a season already lost is going to have any tangible affect on their ability to play with pride next season.

We don't even know who "they" are. Half this team could be traded tomorrow.

LOL. The team had run its course....we had a great run but it was time to do a bit of a rebuild which meant sacrificing a few wins for a better future. It doesnt mean we are establishing a loser mentality. The team still plays pretty hard considering all the talent that was traded away/-injured. But winning a meaningless last game does nothing except potentially hurt our chances at getting a better talent in june

DVR game for us - will watch tonight W or L.

Looking forward to the draft, FA, training camp and next season’s first puck drop. And a new coach(es) behind the bench.

Not a whisper about this one way or another...I'm curious if it's a foregone conclusion that he won't be back that most seem to think.

NYR not callous organization but it wouldn?t surprise me if he was shown the door within a few days. New regime needs to prep for the draft and FA.

I have no idea who comes in next but I?d expect that announcement might not come until after Cup is decided. Unless they did something truly bold and picked a highly successful college coach. I?m not for or against that, just saying it out loud.

You're defintiely right. But it just doesn't sit right with me lol.

take it this way. I'm not going to be excited for a goal, or angry at a goal, regardless of which team scores.

Exactly...I?m rooting for the NYR , I can?t not root for them to ?play well? as it were .... But if Philly wins I won?t be a fraction as chafed as I normally would.
