confirmed: Rangers Acquire F Julien Gauthier for D Joey Keane
NYRangers723 replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
My only hesitancy is expecting that it’s a lock he is gonna come here and become a replacement. We have seen many players tear up AHL then do nothing in the NHL. Emerson Etem is one name that comes to mind. Look I was a big fan of Keane too. I don’t hate the trade but I guess I don’t live it either -

Ive always felt some fans had unrealistic expectations of Kreider because of the 2012 playoffs they wanted him to be a superstar and anything less was a disappointment in their eyes. I mean it’s not like he was the top overall pick he was 19th. He has been a good top 6 player pretty much since he was 22, will get you 25-28 goals, creates space with his speed, one of the best in front of the net, has become a better defensive player l, a very good playoff player. I don’t know for me that pretty goddamn good value for the 19th overall pick lol -

Not really. If you think he is gonna fill that void then you probably are gonna be disappointed -

I’ve never been a big fan of his. The trade was ok but once I saw that contract I knew it wa not gonna be good. Gorton has an awful track record with defensemen -

Still hoping something can be worked out. That line has always has crazy good chemistry and we don’t have somebody to fill that void of the things he does especially in front of the net -

Agreed. Overall he had grown as a player. When he first came into the league he was awful defensively but now is pretty good defensively. Also I like that we have used him on face offs which he has done well on too -

I understand the fear of giving him a huge contract but Kreider is the type of players that’s so hard to replace what he brings. Plus the return is not gonna be great since the Bruins and Blues seem to be the top suitors which means we are getting a very late first rounder and a ok prospect, which doesn’t excite me. I do think Kreider would take a little less and I feel he keeps himself in such great shape that he won’t break down. If we got a lottery pick like the Devils did with Hall then I would be more for it but the fact that return won’t be great and the fact that he is so hard to replace makes me hopeful something can get done and he can stay -

I wish Panarin would shoot more in the PP. as for Mike he needs to be better on face offs especially on the PP -

I like Strome but to be fair he has crashed back to earth for a good while now. It?s funny the second Panarin cooled off a little bit Strome disappeared. -
[friedman] Georgiev is in Rangers' Long-Term Plans?
NYRangers723 replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
The Rangers don?t really want to trade him. Honestly just trading him for the sake of it isn?t smart especially for a subpar package -
I’d take a 2nd rounder. I love Fast but he is definitely gonna get a decent raise from somebody. He has shown a little more offense this year but obviously his defense and intangibles will make him attractive to somebody. I just don’t want to give him a bigger contract.
