I think the deal is reasonable although in a perfect world 6 years would have been great. I don?t buy all this ?he is gonna break down quick? stuff I just don?t see it. I?ve seen plenty of people be fine late into their 30s. I?m not a professional but I?m 36 going on 37 and I play basketball against college kids a few times a week and blend in fine. And CK is a physical freak who is is smart about keeping himself in great shape so I don?t see an issue

If Toronto somehow got into the top 10 we would still get the Canes pick this year I think

I liked Skjei his first couple years but he has regressed since signing that contract. So I’m happy just getting an extra first and salary relief

Really happy with the moves today. Obviously I felt losing CK would have left a huge void unless we got a monster return for him. Would I have preferred 6 years? Yeah but he took less money annually. Plus we got cap relief and a first rounder for Skjei who has regressed since signing a long term deal

The offers they were getting f were probably shit. They always wanted to try and keep him but the tried to see if anybody would meet their trade demands and obviously nobody came close

Good Post. He has also become a better overall player. When he first entered the league he was awful defensively but now has become pretty good defensively. Like you said his net presence and board work is something that may not translate into points but very important. Even GM face offs is something he has done well this year. As much as I love Mika is is bad at face offs. No matter what happens tomorrow Kreider has handled this very professionally and it?s been all about the team

I wonder if Gorton has/will give CK a deadline? I mean I would think if they cant come to an agreement by tonight then Gorton would need to shift focus to trades

I like Gorton. My only issue is the contracts he has dished out to defensemen. Shatttenkirk,Smith,Skjei,and Trouba have all been pretty ugly
