I’ve liked Gortons moves for the most part. My only issue is the bad contracts he had handed out to defensemen. However yesterday he corrected one of those with the Skjei contract and got back a valuable asset -

For a 18 year old kid(most of the season). I have been pretty happy with Kakko. Does he have things to work on? Absolutely but given the fact that he really hasn’t had a chance to play with our better players I’ve liked what I’ve seen. Defensively it takes time for kids to get better it could take a few years. I love how he can extend plays and hold onto the puck. I guess my only drawback is that he doesn’t shoot enough but that will be better with experience. Just going through the grind of a 82 game season is huge for him. This offseason he will get stronger and have a better idea of what to do for his second year -
exactly. Look I’m not saying I can tell you with absolute certainty that he will be physically great the whole contract but I believe he will be and so do the Rangers. I think JD said it best yesterday. His physical attributes aside he works hard to keep himself in tremendous shape and is smart about it

Kakko is gonna be really really good. I think some fans are guilty of putting too much high expectations on an 18 year old in his first year. He hadn’t really played with our top players yet so that’s partly why his production isn’t as high but I like what I see. Most important is him going through the yearly grind. Next year I’m excited about the next step he takes
