I just ran the numbers there Byfield projected at 48 NHL points, while Lafreniere is 50 NHL points, that is basically same thing. thank you for proving my point.

Byfield's production translated from better OHL to crappier QMJHL probably is equal if not better and considering he is 10 month younger he is possibly if not likely going to be better. Then also consider size difference and center position which is exactly what we need.

I agree it is not very likely, but it is possible. Also consider that Luc Robataille might push for French Canadians, while Rangers want to grab more viewers with the help of Akil Thomas, Byfield and K'Andre Miller. Also I don't remember last time Rangers had a French Canadian that had good success with the Rangers. Didn't Arizona trade away Strome's brother? We can trade Strome at the deadline or during the season. Don't think Stepan at this point is better than Strome.
