  1. Undrafted. Slowly got to the point of playing 30 games in the NHL last year. Might be a late bloomer. If he can take off the opposition's star for five minutes every game, he can stick.
  2. Anytime Tkachuk wants to take a five minute rest with an AHL d-man and have us score three while he's cooling his heels is fine with me. Mackey looked good.
  3. Has anyone seen a team that pulls the goalie down by 3 succeed in tying a game? It seems like a pointless ritual. Kakko = The Garbage Time Kid.
  4. Shaky goaltending for... them? Goals in bunches for... us? As Al Michaels would say, "Do you believe in miracles?"
  5. Not asking for more than a "yes" or a "no," but has anyone been hearing any off ice stuff about Fox?
  6. I have a hunch that the rest of the league, which once probably thought Miller was the second coming of something, might not still be that high on him. We might be a little bit disappointed in the return.
  7. If you look at Vezina winners and finalists over the years, you see a lot of guys who had career years but didn't sustain it. Bobo won it twice with loads of blah when he wasn't winning it (or perking up for the playoffs last years). Hank was great and rare in that he was near the top every year for a good ten years. Shesty? He may be like the rest who had a career year or two and were otherwise not much above average. Tough racket, goaltending. https://records.nhl.com/awards/trophies/vezina-trophy
  8. He's off more than on. His deficiencies are pretty well baked in. As many have said, he should be a forward. His market value gradually declines from here. We don't have someone to fill his spot, so we would probably have to get a D-man for him, leaving the center and wing problems unsolved.
  9. Could they at least acknowledge that he's been concussed? Is that going to create an additional danger that opponents will seek to exploit it when they all already know it anyhow? Sadly, I can see him being gone for two or three years, working diligently to come back, wearing a special helmet, and getting knocked out for good with the first good sized hit.
  10. Bettman has said that 32 teams is enough for a while. I hope he sticks to that. How many team should there be? 100? How many is too many? I think we're there already. 54 year wait will be nothing in the future with all the teams that never win it.
  11. Quick has been a pleasant surprise, but I hope Drury will stop signing 35+ players. Just stop.
  12. Puck bunnies are prolifigate, especially small town girls looking for a ticket out of Palookaville, where a junior team plays. Junior players can be young, impulsive and not well enough supervised. Bad combination.
  13. Cory may simply follow the dictum of Benjamin Franklin: "I prefer the company of older women, because they are grateful."
  14. Great! Almost eough to get me to watch my first all star game since 1994 at MSG!
  15. Miller and Kakko two of the few moveable objects. Kakko of little value at the moment. Miller still probably thought of highly in many precints around the league. As has been said. Sell high; sell now.
  16. 55 years too late to save my Mom's walls from having the photos taped on to them.
  17. I think he will have a successful but short tenure. The team will buy in, but not for that long, especially given that it is a veteran team.
  18. In the great old TV series, “The West Wing,” the campaign strategy for New Hampshire Gov. Jed Bartlet as he ran for the presidency was distilled to four words that became a touchstone for his two terms in the White House. It was, “Let Bartlet be Bartlet.” Larry is liberal, so he can't properly credit the Let ___ be ____ line. It originated not on some TV show but in the Reagan White House in the early 80's, when establishment Republicans tried to push Reagan to the center, the constant mantra from Reagan's conservative staffers was "Let Reagan Be Reagan."
  19. Clearly not the player he was in his Norris year. Back then he had these incredible advanced stats on things like turnovers, completed passes and breakouts. I'd be curious as to how they compare with this year.
  20. I think this is a bad move by this GM, because now, silence or anything less than a categorical denial that a guy will be traded will be treated as an indication that he is being shopped and set off rumors.
  21. Get my sick of Sam feelings in check by leaving the sound on for more than half of the games that I watch.
  22. Back in the day, Emile Francis was always trying to pass off coaching so he could concentrate on being the GM. He had an extremely successful minor league coach in the organization named Fred Shero, but never elevated him. Eventually the Flyers took him. Larry Brooks is no doubt aching to write about the parallel if Knoblauch wins a cup.
  23. Only two observations: I hate the 3rd uniforms on TV. They are too dark and the players look like blots of india ink against the white ice. Schneider looked refreshingly/suprprisingly good today.
