  1. I'd be very surprised if he didn't clear.
  2. I've always liked this guy, and I've generally been critical of all of the players who have come and gone in our bottom six. When you look at the names mentioned as possible deadline acquisitions to be the 3C, there is no assurance that any of them will represent an improvement over JBrod, especially when brand new on a team. How much am I willing to part with in a trade for a guy who may not represent an improvement at all? There is also the speed factor, a commodity we desperately need and which JBrod provides.
  3. I don't want to trade a 1st for a third line center when that line actually looks pretty good at the moment. It may be looking like a wing for Zib is a bigger priority. Give it a few weeks.
  4. The news accounts all say Sergy was injured by a "reverse check" by LaF. I didn't see LaF do anything, and I've watched it five times. It just looked like Sergy tried to check him and got his leg caught in an ackward way between LaF's legs.
  5. Only word that readily comes to mind is "atrocity."
  6. BREAKING: The novelty has worn off, and it is worth two points like every other game.
  7. Arizona is a good market, but this has gone far and for too long. Move them. At such time as Phoenix wants to build a good rink, they can seek to move one of the other lame franchises there.
  8. I would take Gauthier over Wheeler and Pitlick. I'm not looking forward to the distant vision of Wheeler in the rear view mirror when we play the Devils.
  9. Is anyone here ready to say that they think that Miller has improved from where he was, say, two years ago? Yeah, I know, guys may not develop on a straight line upward, but I also know that guys plateau at different times, and with Miller that time may have happened or soon be happening.
  10. Denver and Minneapolis-St. Paul failed the first time and now are among the strongest franchises. St. Louis and Pittsburgh were in dire straights and near moving at various points. There's nothing innate about Atlanta that would make it a bad market where teams seem to do fine in Nashville, Raleigh, Dallas and Tampa. The Flames experience 40-50 years ago is irrelevent (although I note they outdrew the Atlanta Hawks). A poorly managed team that makes the the playoffs once in 12 years is a recipe for failure. The Thrashers gate was typically not that bad, as various teams were worse. All that said, stop at 32, please.
  11. Players who do not fulfill their initial promise are often moved under the theory that they would be better off getting a fresh start somewhere else. Being so highly touted will always hang over Kakko's head here. There won't be so much high draft pick baggage attached to him with a new team, which may make acceptance of a lesser role easier for that teams fans and management and the player himself.
  12. Kakko's value is so low at the moment that I would prefer to just keep him and try to develop him as a good third line player. Of course, the environment on the team that drafted him second overall is probably not conducive to developing him into something far less than was expected. For that reason, sooner or later he will get dumped for very little and probably will become a passable player elsewhere.
  13. You don't think you could find Muslims or Jews with bad stories about their co-religionists? Especially conservative and orthodox sects. Okay, it's fine by you to disparage Mormons but not other religions. Mitt Romney, a Mormon, got about 45 percent of the vote running for President, so at least a good chunk of the population does not share your prejudice.
  14. I don't know the basis for your statement that it's "not just people outside the community of LDS as they'd like you to believe." You have Muslim extremists, who may even represent a larger faction than polygamists among Mormons, committing terrorist acts. So on that basis are you prepared inveigh against Muslims they way you did Mormons? I'm non-PC and non-woke, but it amazes me how certain groups, like Mormons and poor rural white folks are deemed by some to be subject to disparagement that people wouldn't dare direct at most groups.
  15. Wow. Can you imagine substituting "Jews" or "Muslims" for "Mormon's"? Mormons were probably the most persecuted religious group in American history. That's how they ended up in Utah.
  16. Sounds like another Ryan. Spooner.
  17. Extending him this summer seems out of the question. It would mean a commitment that would run NINE years into the future after what, even if he has a good finish, would be an uneven season. Moody as Sheshty is, I hope he doesn't get annoyed with the Rangers if they take their time evaluating him during next season. One exception to all of this might be if Sheshty were willing to take somewhat reduced term and money this summer, given that he's not coming off a good year. Not that likely, but possible.
  18. I'll have to break out my "Ozzy Say RELAX" tee shirt now.
  19. At his current pace, Leschysyn will contribute 35 points by... inifinity.
