  1. As has been pointed out, the timing of the firing makes ZERO sense in terms of performance...with one week left in the season? I personally think we underachieved as well, but blowing up the front office this way would hardly be a good response (we're not talking 'Buffalo' underachievement here). I could actually get behind this if the real story is that JD and Gorts didn't have the balls to stand by the teams statement.
  2. thats a hell of a snipe from laf. we know he has the playmaking potential, but if he can get that kind of shot off consistently, he'll be lethal.
  3. skated off on his left leg. some kinda tear i guess. who knows, sometimes these types of injuries look worse than they end up being.
  4. Agree with the sentiment that Kakko and Laf's slow start has to reflect poorly on DQ. What are the chances that 2 can't miss, consensus best of the best, top notch personality prospects kick off their nhl careers with a whimper. I would bet it's DQs micromanaging, control freak style that messed with them. As a fan, I'd rather see these two flash talent night in and night out, even if they're screwing up a bunch along the way.
  5. Panarin earned his contract in season one. Pretty impressive feat under the pressure of delivering in the NY market. How many times have we seen a big time NY free agent signing, in any major sport, fall short of hopeful expectations? Dude has icewater in his veins. It is just one season though. If he does this for at least 4 seasons, it will have been a decent contract. If he does it for 7, it will be the one of the best free agent signings of all time.
  6. True - Krieder Zibanejad has been a hell of a pair - it drove me crazy when they messed around with Panarin alongside Zibanejad in the beginning of this past season. But Lafreniere seems to me more of a North/South player than Panarin, and I have a feeling it could work well. I just could not stomach the possibility of stunting a possible generational talent (sure, not projected to be at the Crosby level by most, but who knows) by lining him up with 2 other scrubs.
  7. Brooks: "I’ll tell you this. Whenever I see a projected Rangers’ lineup that does not have Alexis Lafreniere in the top six, but rather on the third line with the Blueshirts stacking left wings Artemi Panarin, Chris Kreider and Lafreniere, I hope this does not reflect the views of management." Agree. Obviously we haven't seen him at the NHL level yet, but projecting, you can not stick a prospect of Lafreniere's caliber on the third line alongside average at best players (assuming Chytil/Howden etc. don't take their game up to the next level). You can not risk stunting his NHL development that way. I love Kreider's game, and he's getting paid to be a top 6, but he'll have to be the third liner as far as I'm concerned. At least if he gets paired up with the right guys and they develop some chemistry, we can potentially roll three lines that can produce. Gotta at least give Lafreniere a shot to see what he can do with Zibanejad.
  8. The guys name is seriously Alex Laferriere? Must've legally changed his name at some point on the off-chance he'd be mistakenly called out as the #1 pick in the draft
  9. Brooks: "But unless the Blueshirts are overwhelmed by a trade offer that objectively makes no sense on the other side ? specifically, such as the Senators offering 20-year-old center Brady Tkachuk and the third-overall pick in exchange for the Quebecer who was born and raised approximately 100 miles from Ottawa...." Tkachuk and 3rd overall for Laffreniere would be overwhelming?
  10. If shesty is healthy and back to normal, not only do we get out of round 1 (if we get there), we're a contender...u think 9-1 is an accident?
  11. wow - never mind the score, shot count, stats - this is embarrassing hockey for any nhl team, no matter the personnel or the competition. these guys clearly have a serious confidence issue or something, and I have to lay that at the feet of the coach.
  12. Quinn is really starting to make me sick. I'm wondering if he's an ego maniac who thinks his own system and culture takes precedence over most effectively utilizing the talent this team has - and there's plenty of it - with whatever system and culture fits. The latest finnish Kakko article is a red flag. This is not some immature rookie as far as I can tell - he's an up and coming world class talent who's being coached by a college level amateur. How Panarin and Zibanejad weren't split up from the very beginning...and still not?!? even as just about every single other combination has been messed around with?!? makes absolutely no f'n sense - especially when you have the opportunity to facilitate the development of a talent like kakko by putting him alongside one of those two.
  13. This second line must be showing something impressive in practice, cause at lease on paper, it makes no f'n sense to me. Gotta be changed to this: Chris Kreider / Mika Zibanejad / Pavel Buchnevich Artemi Panarin / Ryan Strome / Kaapo Fuckin' Kakko You can flip Buchnevich and Kakko if you'd like (maybe even preferred), but Zibanejad and The Bread Man just have to be split. Kreider is just about an average hockey player next to someone like Strome, but Panarin can carry the playmaker load. Sure - you'd love to have Zibanejad surrounded by the best possible talent, but he's already proven he can be a star without it (and may only be getting better).
