Having that 8M not go to waste is huge. Thought all the captain talk before the season was bizarre...but hes earning it now.

If Trouba keeps laying people out for the durationnof his contract, ill say hes worth 7M. If he teaches kandre to do the same...hell he worth the full 8!

The 8.5 mill will be a significant disappointment if we dont get the superstar zibanejad for at least a few seasons (3-4)

It may work for the Strome-Panarin pairing. The Kreider-Zibanejad connection seems to need a legit third to thrive though.

These guys just need to have a consistently good RWinger plugged into thier duo. Dont know that they cant do better than hunt. Though my bigger concern would be finding a RW for Zibanejad if they lose Kakko

Definitely looking like Gallant was the right man for the job. Question will be if he can sustain his effectiveness or reinvent himself as needed, to last longer than in his previous stints.

Nemeth can walk of course. But at some point (like now, it seems) the Rangers have to take a risk on a younger, still underwhelmingly producing player like Chytil over a proven one like Strome who will cost more. That's how you end up with a steal of a contract like Zibanejad at 5.5M or so while he was a legit #1 center.

Kakkos comments are pretty damning. Now you have not only Kakko stepping up, but Gauthier, and hopefully Laf to follow. Gallant also mentioned he sees Chytil as a high end center - im excited about the confidence these guys may start to show. More importantly, winning games when your not playing all that particularly well speaks to a culture in which players dont get down on themselves and do what it takes to at least pull out the W's. Coaching is a huge part of that.

Imagine an OT goal in game 7 of a playoff round...and Sam goes "Goodrow! Goodrow! Good....errrrr....I mean, oh sorry...Chris Kreider..."

can't say i've watched too closely, but my sense is he's been average, not invisible. we need him to be a superstar, and a C could provide him a kick in the butt to consistently play at that level. timing may not be right though. kreider is a hell of a leader, and earning his keep so far this season. but his skillset/game is a bit too one-dimensional to warrant a C, in my opinion.

Zibanejad is one guy i think could thrive with a C. He has a ton of confidence and I think he could take his game to the next level rather than stall.

Would like to see: Kreider-Zib-Blais Panarin-Strome-Goodrow Laf-Chytil-Kakko

Goodrow & Blais on the top two lines could work out well. Both the Zib-Kreider & Strome-Panarin should still be able to produce with a role player as the third. Then you can let Laf-Chytil-Kakko develop there own thing on the third line. It'll come, eventually.

Well if it means they'll come cheap on their next 1-2 contracts, and potentially breakout when the Vets are on there way out...could work out wonderfully
