[RS #33] Rangers vs. Washington Capitals — The Day After Kwanzaa Classic

Drew a Penalty

Miller-Schneider pairing looked good last night. That's something to keep an eye on if Trouba misses time. If he does and it continues, Lavi will have a decision to make when Trouba returns. He might have 3 pairings he can roll out pretty equally at 5v5 rather than a typical 1st/2nd/3rd pairing. That would be great for keeping these guys fresh too.

That pairing was great last night.  I loved watching Schneider step up and play like he had balls the size of Hippity-Hopps!

The past couple of weeks or so is maybe the best I've seen Schneider play, at least in awhile anyway.

He just had what was probably the worst game of his career against Buffalo on Saturday. Good to see not only a bounce back from that, but being genuinely good instead of just passable as a 3rd pair guy.

I still like him overall and think he can be better than that projection as of now. He's still pretty green and very young. Defensemen usually take longer to develop anyway. Look at Miller now. I also like he's getting more confidence offensively too.

Schneider has always been fine. He's 22 and learning on the job, he's also frequently paired with the worst left defenseman on the team. Gustafsson has been his most reliable partner, and even most of the shine is off Gus too. He's just been "there" for the last handful of games.

Schneider hasn't played 200 games. He's fine, and he's only going to get better.

The doldrums of an NHL season; watching the ebbs and flows can be tough from games 30-60 but this team keeps bringing it. Loving 23/24 Rangers. Each individual has stepped up when called upon. Interesting to see the success continue without KK and Chytil. Makes you wonder how that fares for long term plans.

Gus can be fine for the rest of the season he’s already earned his keep and then some. Anything else is gravy. Not many people of any caliber can fill in for Fox for ten games and not have the team miss a beat, let alone at Gus’ contract. If he is average for the rest of the year that would be great and he’d already be one of the top FA signings in the league for the year

They're almost forgettable, which is a terrible thing to say about some recent firsts. Team is basically "fine" without them.

It's because he's Irish.

Kicked that ass! Rangers apparently can beat you multiple ways. Wow! Smacked that capital ass!

I like the way you think lol. You should join us during some of the game day threads to watch and post along. Tons of fun and a lot of great posts like this that go on during the game.

LGR!

Hey Rangers Ed, in the NYR section of the forum (here's a link), there is a thread posted for each game where we all post while watching the game. Posts are full of witty banter, back-and-forth, complaining about Sam, rallying around the team, etc.

Here's the thread for the Capitals game - another link.

So tomorrow morning one of the mods will post a new GDT, game-day-thread, where we'll all convene throughout the day to post roster updates, rooting info, mayonnaise pictures (you'll learn that game-day-threads get kinda weird lol), and during the game, the threads are quite lively and sometimes difficult to keep up.

One of our members, @Ozzy, is also well known for reading through all of the threads (lord knows he has the patience of a saint to do this), and "awarding" the top posts with recognition.

Anyway, poke around and get acquainted.

Different reasons though.  The concussions just suck because Chytil was on his way to top 6 center.  Kakko we know nothing about at this point.  Might make it.  Might become a bottom 6 guy.

Thanks….

I’m still getting acquainted with this website. It’s awesome! I’m a diehard but very honest New York Rangers Hockey Fan. Where do I go to get in on that fan website during their games? Would love to be a part of it.
Ranger Ed

your post was moved into a GDT from the other day. At the top, pinned to this board, you'll see Game Day threads attached for all to participate. It'll have all info of lineup, injuries, trends, broadcast info, etc. Tonigh's GDT is here and found at the top of this page. It gets put up usually morning of the games.
