Very advanced defensive specialist for his age with a high motor. He'll be a bitch to play against if he ever makes the NHL. It sucks that they keep adding left wings, but they added a very useful player in a weak draft.

Few players match Sýkora’s intensity on the ice. He’s all-in, every shift. He bounces from opponent to opponent, barely giving them any time to handle the puck, blocks shots like he’s immune to pain, and attacks loose pucks like the fate of the world depends on his ability to catch them. On the backcheck, he pursues escaping opponents and completely neutralizes them. -EliteProspects 2022 NHL Draft Guide

The draft analytics people love this kid. I'd wager his playstyle is a "doesn't matter what wing he plays" - not that it matters as he's probably three+ years off.

This is the part of the draft where you have like a 1 in 4 chance of hitting an NHLer and a 1-in-30 or so to end up with a higher end guy. If he's Jesper Fast or, like, a dime-store Ryan Callahan - huge win with the pick.

Despite his age, he's considered much closer given his intangibles. I wouldn't be shocked if he's already in the AHL this year instead of going back to Slovakia.

Can he go to the AHL as an 18 year old? Or is that rule just for North American players?

Genuinely asking as I don't know how it works.

Yes, he can. The only thing stopping most u20 players from going to the AHL is the CHL transfer agreement.
