Phil Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 Link: -- I'm taking this one with a huge grain of salt, but given we're starved for any kind of content right now, it's worth the conversation, even if the source doesn't have a stellar track record.
josh Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 I mean, it would always make more sense to include that Keator is Kreider's agent, who NY recently worked out a deal with. That would at least give some juice to the story.
Phil Posted December 15, 2020 Author Posted December 15, 2020 There's also a connection to Gorton, who was responsible for initially signing Chara in Boston.
Lord Al Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 This one makes a lot of sense in many ways. First an experienced defenseman with size ,Leader ship skills to help the young kids on the D .Has kept himself in excellent shape And at his age is still one of the top fighters in the NHL Sent from my iPhone using Blueshirts Brotherhood mobile app powered by Tapatalk
Scott Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 Is he going to work for free or close to it at this point in his career?
ThirtyONE Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 Is he going to work for free or close to it at this point in his career? Probably. This would be a curveball for the ages.
Scott Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 Got that right. I don't see it ever happening under any circumstances. Does this guy have any credibility at all other than he owns a twitter account?
Keirik Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 And he’d join the rangers why? With all the teams out there closer to the cup for a 62 year old, why would he choose us at legit league minimum?
Pete Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 Close to Boston. But otherwise don't believe this. He hates New York, had a chance here before and went to Boston instead, And he?d join the rangers why? With all the teams out there closer to the cup for a 62 year old, why would he choose us at legit league minimum?
jsm7302 Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 Are we now in the same division as Boston? That would be quite bizarre.
4EverRangerFrank Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 Man I hope not. Not even for free. I?ve given a friend of mine who?s a B fan so much crap over the years about this guy pushing a walker on the ice...if he become a NYR my friend would razz me mercilessly. No geriatrics. Just say no.
Mistercosmic Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 Zdeno Chara and Jack Johnson together on the ice in a Rangers jersey would literally make me cry, laugh and vomit in the same moment. Sent from my NEM-L51 using Blueshirts Brotherhood mobile app powered by Tapatalk
Ozzy Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 I'd rather give the young guns a chance to develop. I'll pass on Chara. I would also think he would want to play for a team that's going to seriously contend for the Cup. I don't think we're ready just yet....we'll get there, but not yet.
Sharpshooter Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 Zdeno Chara and Jack Johnson together on the ice in a Rangers jersey would literally make me cry, laugh and vomit in the same moment. Sent from my NEM-L51 using Blueshirts Brotherhood mobile app powered by Tapatalk It could be a good competition of how finishes with the worst plus/minus rating. Chara would have been nice to get maybe a few years ago, but definitely not now. Plus, he never seemed to enthused with playing here. Perhaps his experience with the Islanders soured him on New York.
josh Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 Is he willing to fight non-stop every game if someone touches our boys?
Scott Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 I'll go out on a limb here and say no, no he's not interested in fighting much at this point in his career.
josh Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 I'll go out on a limb here and say no, no he's not interested in fighting much at this point in his career. then, as Phil would post
Keirik Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 Close to Boston. But otherwise don't believe this. He hates New York, had a chance here before and went to Boston instead, I feel like I remember him preferring Florida life if it weren’t Boston but I could be wrong.
Bugg Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 When has getting that old guy defenseman worked out here? Sounds like a Phil Esposito type move. Besides unless he's working for peanuts, which won't happen.
RangersIn7 Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 And he?d join the rangers why? With all the teams out there closer to the cup for a 62 year old, why would he choose us at legit league minimum? I believe he?s 137 years old... which is the same age Joe Louis was when he fought Marciano. I have proof. 1

Chara was +26 last season which was tops on the Bruins. In the last 5 years he?s led Boston in plus/minus I?m pretty sure Sent from my iPhone using Blueshirts Brotherhood mobile app powered by Tapatalk

The Dude Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Why not? For one year? Just as long as they relegate Johnson to the 7th dman role or send him to Hartford. Smith would look great in a Bs jersey. Staple a prospect to him and get that salary and roster spot off the team.
