Flynn Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Would it be staying status quo and making a run for the Wild Card, trading Kreider, or a massive shakeup? My ideal scenario would be: 1. Trade Kreider for 3 assets (a combo of NHL or near NHL talent and Draft Picks.. Might be 2 players and a #1 or 2 picks and a player) 2. Trade Skjei in a real hockey trade. Carolina now has a big hole, Florida is a partner here.. This would be the move that gets me the most excited 3. Trade Fast for a pick- I'd love to see him land a 2nd rounder. But probably a 3rd.
josh Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 I want at least one valuable asset brought into the organization. All UFAs need to be signed or dealt today. I hope they dont get hosed on any trades
Kevin Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 As much as I want Kreider to be part of the future lineup, I don't think you can take a chance on him walking for nothing. Plus they lose all leverage in that situation. I think we see #1 and #3 today on your list. I think #2, if it happens, will be off-season/draft day type of trade.
Ozzy Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Ok, I'm glued here all day with you guys...standing on the table top with the noose around my neck! In Gorton I trust!! Let's do something good today that makes us better for the next decade!!! ...or I jump!! LOL
Pete Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Must trade: Kreider -- Trade if you get floored: Fast Strome Buch Geo ADA/Trouba -- Get back: NHL player with real upside (like Zib, when we got him) Can't miss prospect who's close (Fox type) First rounders worth having (potentially front half of draft) -- Not going for volume coming back, going for value.
BrooksBurner Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Ideal? 1) Lundqvist traded at 50% retention. 2) Kreider re-signed for 6 years. I'd go 7 years there before taking a trash offer. A late 1st and a C prospect is a trash offer. 3) Fast traded for a 2nd, or a 3rd with a C prospect. Only if Kreider is traded.

I hope they dont get hosed on any trades I don't worry about getting hosed on the trades as much as I do signing the RFA's. Those are the deals that give me the squirts.
Ozzy Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 I'm going with : Kreider - gone for whatever we can get of value, and a #1 ADA - If we're blown away with value, yeah then...traded Strome - I hang on to, and let it go to Arbitration...we can use a center like him Fast - I think he's gone, I'm not expecting more than a 3rd rounder for him Lemeiux - stays put Hank - I have no idea with him, I think he's stubborn enough to stay and not waive his NTC Georgiev - I still think there's a chance we could get something good for him with the recent Goalie injuries around the NHL I'll be a watchin'!!!

Bingo. This, entirely, is what I consider a successful deadline day. Make hockey deals. Don't keep rebuilding. BUILD.
Dunny Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Sign Fast and Kreider to team friendly deals. Deal Lundqvist and Smith. Find a good bottom 6 winger. None of which will happen.
4EverRangerFrank Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Ozzy don?t jump! You still owe me a beer. What?s being said here is good. Build. That means Kreids is a goner. The only change of heart to keeping would be the news of the century that Hank was traded first...then you can keep Kreider. The mid-level changes must happen.
jsm7302 Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Trade: Hank- solidifies this core. Fast- save that salary!! ADA- ONLY IF OFFERED A KINGS RANSOM and they just may get it. Sign: Kreider- Give him the C.

BUILD.Heart says keep Kreider, head says let him go. Fast has been the quintessential good soldier, but gotta move. Cut the difference between head and heart by trading Georgie. 1 regular that fits, 1 A-/B+ prospect, and 1 pick is a fine haul to hope for. Vlad to COL! I'm banking on the fact that Gorton does it right, Big Guy!! If not, I'll give Robbie J the coin and he'll buy more than a couple for you!!!

Pretty much this, though I'd add Skjei to that "Trade if you get floored" list. There's something with Florida there; maybe a bigger deal, even.

Slobberknocker Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 sam was on nhl radio just now. dont sound like hank's going anywhere. sounds like kried's is. focus remians on the build. same doesn't think the team is ready to compete for the cup, even being 4 out.
Flynn Posted February 24, 2020 Author Posted February 24, 2020 Its all going to hell in a hand basket
Pete Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 11:30am on deadline day and we've already lost.
